Renal cell carcinoma associated with fused ectopic kidneys has rarely been reported in the literature. Here we report the first case of robot-assisted heminephrectomy for chromophobe renal cell carcinoma in an L-shaped fused ectopic kidney. The present case report highlights the importance of three-dimensional vision and enhanced maneuverability with the EndoWrist technology of the robotic surgical system for precise dissection. This report also highlights the importance of preoperative contrast-enhanced computed tomography with three-dimensional arterial reconstruction for surgical planning.

The central nervous system metastasis from nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is an extremely rare occurrence, although direct intracranial invasion is not infrequent in patients with NPC. Herein we report a case of a 62-year-old male with NPC, in whom the asymptomatic cauda equina metastasis was detected on staging (18)F-Fluordeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography (F-FDG PET/CT). By demonstrating distant metastasis to cauda equina, (18)F-FDG PET/CT detection helped in change of management in this patient.

We present a case demonstrating an anomalous vessel connecting the left brachiocephalic vein and the left superior pulmonary vein, found incidentally on computed tomography (CT) imaging. This pulmonary-systemic venous connection, known as a levoatriocardinal vein, is a rare anomaly. In previous descriptions, this vessel has typically been associated with left-to-right shunt. Here, we describe the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and CT findings in a case with right-to-left shunting through the anomalous vessel likely secondary to elevated right cardiac pressure.

Truncus arteriosus (TA), a rare complex congenital cardiac disease in which systemic pulmonary and coronary circulations originate from a common vessel, develops due to failure of separation of the common trunk during embryonic life. In this case report, we discuss a 24-year-old patient with TA in whom a computed tomography angiography was performed. To the best of our knowledge, no case has been reported so far where an adult had combined left superior vena cava and pulmonary vein anomaly.

The ectopic location and unusual coronary course of the anomalous right coronary artery (RCA) from the left sinus of Valsalva makes percutaneous coronary intervention difficult. In this report, we describe a case of successful stent implantation in an anomalous RCA performed using a 4.5F inner catheter with a 6F guiding catheter used in the mother and child system under the guidance of multislice computed tomography. This approach was found to be safe and feasible in cases involving anomalous coronary origin because of the excellent engagement and support provided by the guiding catheter.

Interdigitating Dendritic Cell Sarcoma (IDCS) is an infrequent dendritic cell tumor which mainly affects the lymphatic system. Intestinal metastasis from uterine IDCS is extremely rare. Here we report a case of a 76-year-old female presenting with vaginal bleeding and acute abdomen. The final diagnosis revealed a small bowel perforation due to metastatic involvement from uterine cervix IDCS. In this paper, we report the clinical manifestation, computed tomography and histopathological findings helpful for the accurate diagnosis of this rare tumor.

We describe a case of relapsed granulomatosis with polyangiitis (Wegener's) (GPA) that presented with abdominal pain. (18)F-fluoro-2-deoxy-D: -glucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET)/computed tomography (CT) clearly depicted an inflammation of the left peri-iliac arterial soft tissue, which was thought to be the cause of the ureteral obstruction and hydronephrosis. Our case shows that peri-iliac arterial inflammation occurs in GPA and causes hydronephrosis. In addition, FDG-PET/CT is a useful tool for management of this systemic inflammatory disease.

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is a rare inherited disorder of the connective tissue that is characterized by hyperextensible skin, hypermobile joints and abnormalities of the cardiovascular system. A 15-year-old girl with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome underwent thoracolumbar surgery for deformity correction. A 69-year-old man with autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) was admitted to hospital with high fever and cough. Chest roentgenogram and computed tomography showed pleural and pericardial effusion. Serological tests showed a high titer of antinuclear antibodies and positive anti-DNA antibody and lymphocytopenia. He fulfilled the American College of Rheumatology criteria for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). After administration of corticosteroids, his symptoms and liver dysfunction improved. To the authors' knowledge, this is the first male case of overlap between AIH and late-onset SLE.

Congenital cysts are malformations developing from the endoderm and mesoderm of the digestive and respiratory system in the early weeks of gestation. Emphysematous pyelitis (EP) is a benign entity. To our knowledge, it has not been reported frequently in the radiology literature. Previous articles have not focused on EP but rather have included other gas-forming entities (eg, emphysematous pyelonephritis [EPN]). The authors describe imaging findings in EP and distinguish them from findings in EPN in five cases. Computed tomography is the current method for demonstrating isolated gas production inside the urinary collecting system. The prognosis is excellent, with rapid complete recovery after medical treatment.

Tritium NMR spectroscopy has been used to examine the complex formed by [4-3H]benzenesulfon-amide and human carbonic anhydrase I. The results show that in solution the inhibitor forms a 1:1 complex with the enzyme. A 100-spin computational model of the system, constructed with reference to crystallographic results, was used to interpret tritium relaxation behavior and 3H{1H} NOEs. The analysis shows that the rate of dissociation of the enzyme-sulfonamide complex is 0.35 s-1 and that the aromatic ring of the inhibitor undergoes rapid rotation while complexed.

Hounsfield's development of computed tomography (CT) in 1972 revolutionized the care of patients with acute craniocerebral trauma. CT evaluation facilitates early surgical and medical intervention and has significantly improved patient outcome. This review describes the role of CT in assessing acute head trauma. Despite the growing role of magnetic resonance imaging in the acute, subacute, and chronic phases of brain injury as well as in many other central nervous system disorders, CT retains its unique capacity to image acutely ill patients rapidly and accurately.

The purpose of this study was to establish reference ranges for numerical fetal heart rate (FHR) data in postterm pregnancy and to compare them with the patterns of fetuses under undisturbed condition at term.
