OBJECTIVE: Coronectomy is an alternative to traditional mandibular third molar extraction when the inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) is closely associated with the roots of these molars. Given the paucity of research on the long-term outcomes after coronectomy, we conducted this study to evaluate clinical and radiographic outcomes at least 5 years post-coronectomy.

This paper, with the aid of clinical examples, highlights some of the common occlusal problems that can be associated with maxillary anterior single-unit implant-supported restorations. The authors stress the importance of thorough pre-operative planning to identify any likely occlusal problems. Forty-eight single dental implants were inserted 4 months after tooth extraction following ridge preservation (RP; n = 24) or spontaneous healing (EXT; n = 24). This study compares the fracture resistance of endodontically treated teeth before and after load cycling. Forty-two maxillary incisors were selected. In groups 1 and 2, casting post and core was used. In groups 3 and 4, Dentatus posts and composite were used, and in groups 5 and 6, FRC posts were used. The load cycling had no statistically significant effect on fracture strength among groups.

The purpose of this study was to present a protocol for the replacement of single teeth lost in the molar area with immediate implantation in fresh extraction sockets, no flap reflections or grafting procedures, and immediate loading. Twenty-three implants were placed in 20 patients between 2000 and 2006. No implants were lost and no signs of significant bone resorption, loss of osseointegration, or soft tissue complications were reported. The results of this study indicate that this protocol may be a feasible alternative for the replacement of condemned molars.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the accuracy of the prenatal diagnosis of skeletal dysplasias.
METHODS: All antenatally detected anomalies are coded in our ultrasound database, which is linked with a genetics database that includes outcomes. A final diagnosis is sought on the basis of radiographic studies, molecular testing, or both. Our ultrasound and genetics databases were queried for "skeletal dysplasias."
