Lived experience and perceived barriers to self-care among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in South Ethiopia: a descriptive phenomenological study.

In resource-limited settings like Ethiopia, managing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) depends heavily on patients' self-care. Yet, this process is often disrupted by a complex interplay of emotional, cultural, and systemic factors. Existing research has insufficiently captured how these forces shape the lived experiences of patients managing diabetes in such settings. Therefore, this study explored the lived experiences and perceived barriers of self-care practices among individuals with T2DM attending hospitals in the Wolaita Zone of South Ethiopia.A descriptive phenomenological approach groun

The Effect of a WhatsApp Chatbot-Based Training Program on Infection Control Knowledge and Practices Among Hemodialysis Nurses: A Cluster-Randomized Controlled Trial.

BACKGROUND: Patients undergoing hemodialysis are highly susceptible to infection; however, evidence suggests variability in nurses' infection control competencies. Although digital learning tools are increasingly used in nursing, there have been few randomized controlled trials assessing WhatsApp chatbot-based infection control training for hemodialysis nurses. Thus, the purpose of this study was to assess the effect of a WhatsApp chatbot-based training program on nurses' knowledge and practices related to infection control in hemodialysis units. METHODS: A cluster-randomized controlled trial

Development of an Advance Care Planning Pilot Module for New York City Community Members.

Advance care planning (ACP) facilitates discussions about future healthcare decisions to ensure alignment with individuals' values, goals, and medical preferences. Despite its benefits, ACP engagement and completion of advance directives (AD) remain limited due to low awareness, misconceptions, and structural barriers. The Tisch Cancer Institute Community Outreach and Engagement Department at Mount Sinai in New York City (NYC) identified this knowledge gap as a key community need. In response, a community-based educational module was created to enhance ACP and AD knowledge. Curriculum developm

From street to lifesaving: a pre-post study of a blended serious game-based CPR training program for food delivery riders.

BACKGROUND: The objective of this study was to design, implement, and evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of a blended serious game–based intervention for food delivery riders, an often-overlooked group of potential first responders. The study also descriptively assessed changes in CPR knowledge, chest compression quality, and willingness to act among this population. Given their frequent presence in public spaces and their demographic characteristics, food delivery riders represent a promising target for gamified CPR training, which leverages interactive and motivational features to ex

Assessing nurses' knowledge and confidence in adult sepsis: evidence from two hospitals in eastern China.

Sepsis continues to pose a serious worldwide health issue, with considerable rates of illness and death, making early identification and rapid management essential for improving patient outcomes. Nurses, being the first point of patient care, have a pivotal responsibility in recognizing sepsis early and initiating timely interventions. Nevertheless, even with evidence-based frameworks like Sepsis-3 available, nurses still show knowledge deficiencies, reduced confidence, and inconsistent management practices, which can lead to delays in diagnosis and compromised care. This research set out to e

Perceptions and Experiences of Xylazine, Disparities in Xylazine Awareness, and Correlates of Xylazine-Attributed Wounds Among People Who Use Opioids.

BACKGROUND: Xylazine, an adulterant in the illicit opioid supply, heightens the risks of overdose, withdrawal severity, and severe wounds among people who use opioids (PWUO). Despite increasing prevalence, gaps remain regarding xylazine awareness in the drug supply and effective harm reduction interventions to address it. METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional survey of 703 PWUO in Baltimore, MD (2023-2025), to assess xylazine awareness, perceptions, and experiences. Multivariable logistic regression models examined correlates of xylazine awareness and self-reported xylazine-attributed wound
