The antibacterial, antifungal and antitubercular activities of Hg(II) and Fe(II) complexes of hydrazone were studied. All the complexes have been screened against Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhi, Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv and found to be more toxic than the parent ligand. Psoralens, together with ultraviolet light A (PUVA), are used in the treatment of epidermal proliferative disorders. Although these compounds can enter cells and photo cross-link DNA, lipids and proteins, including a specific membrane receptor, are also potential targets for the psoralens. To better elucidate the site of action of the psoralens, we have synthesized a family of 5'-mercurio-substituted derivatives of 4',5'-dihydropsoralen. Synthesis and chemical and physical characterization of four new complex compounds of thiobenzpyrolidide [1-(pyrolidine)-thiobenzoyl] with Pd(II), Pt(II), Cu(I) and Hg(II) are presented. The purposed chemical structure for these complexes is suggested by the elemental chemical analysis, molecular mass measurements, electric conductivities as well as by UV-VIS and IR spectra. The obtained compounds may in principle be used as enzyme inhibitors having a pronounced insecticidal action.

A highly sensitive microassay method and a microscale purification system were developed to isolate the residual acid beta-galactosidase in GM1-gangliosidosis fibroblasts.
