In an effort to increase the immediate strength of a rotator cuff repair and to simulate the standard open reconstruction with its effective suture fixation, we have developed a novel technique for suture anchor reconstruction of the rotator cuff. The technique, termed mattress double anchor (MDA), is simple and adaptable. It makes use of 2 suture anchors that are placed independently and then connected by a suture loop. The previously reported surgical methods for eyelid entropion are basically manipulations of the skin or the conjunctival surface. When entropion is marked, manipulations also involve the tarsus. OBJECTIVE: To demonstrate the use of multiple, large, local flaps in the reconstruction of large scalp defects.

From 1996 through 2001, the authors performed 26 vulvo-perineal reconstructions after vulvar cancer resection. A unilateral or bilateral medial thigh septo-fascio-cutaneous island flap was used in all cases. Reconstruction of the knee joint for osteosarcoma of the proximal tibia is a formidable challenge. Here we present two patients whose knees were reconstructed with autologous grafts of whole-knee joint treated by extracorporeal pasteurization. Incorporation at the junction between host and pasteurized bone was evident. On the other hand, direct reattachment of the patellar tendon to the pasteurized tibia was not successful in case 1. OBJECTIVE: To elucidate the reconstruction of neovascularization that occurred in the superiorly and inferiorly based posterior pharyngeal flaps in different time postoperatively.
METHODS: Ten mongrel dogs were randomly divided into two experimental groups, which were performed superiorly or inferiorly based posterior pharyngeal flap surgery respectively. Each group was then subdivided into five subgroups, and were sacrificed immediately after operation or on 3, 7, 30, 90 day postoperative respectively. In recent years, high ear-piercing and wearing earrings in the cartilaginous region of the auricle have become popular. The frequent occurrence of subsequent complications also has been pointed out. The present case is of a 17-year-old girl with an auricular deformity caused by infections occurring after piercing in the scapha. Major scrotal defect with exposed testes and/or spermatic cords are a challenge for the reconstructive surgeon. Poland's syndrome is a rarely encountered congenital deficiency involving chest wall and breast deformity associated with hand anomalies. Chest wall reconstruction is necessary if the bony thorax is involved. We present the use of a homologous preserved costal cartilage for reconstruction of the chest wall in an infant with Poland's syndrome, the use of which provided optimal chest wall stability with a favourable outcome.
