Perioral dermatitis is a unique skin disorder of childhood. Its exact origin is unknown; it is probably an idiosyncratic response to exogenous factors such as the use of a topical fluorinated corticosteroid or other substances on the face. This case report chronicles the clinical presentation and unusual response to treatment of a patient with rapid gingival recession and dental erosion secondary to local cocaine application. The initial clinical diagnosis was necrotizing ulcerative periodontitis; only after several years of therapy did the patient voluntarily inform one of the therapists that cocaine had been regularly applied to the affected gingival sites. Anal fissure is often treated surgically by sphincterotomy. There is growing concern over the effects of this procedure on continence. A 66-year-old woman who lived on Tokunoshima Island, a small and remote southern island of the Japanese archipelago, had suffered from chromomycosis for more than 30 years and presented with a tumor-like growth on the posterior crural region of his right leg.
