Thirty-eight patients (16 males and 22 females) with mediastinal cysts have been treated at the Second Department of Surgery at Okayama University from 1978 to 1989. There were thirteen cases of thymic cyst, nine cases of pericardial cyst one case of pericardial diverticulum, eight cases of bronchogenic cyst, two cases of dermoid cyst, two cases of cystic lymphangioma, one case of esophageal cyst, one case of gastroenteric cyst, and one case of aneurysmal bone cyst. The results of 250 consecutive ERCP examinations were analysed in order to assess whether or not juxtapapillary duodenal diverticula are associated with choledocholithiasis. Cholangiography showed common bile duct stones in 71 patients of whom 25 (35%) had periampullary diverticula. Clear bile ducts were shown in 99, of whom only 12 had diverticula (12%) (p less than 0.05). A review of 25 adult patients with intussusception is reported. Intussusception in adults constituted 16.6% of 150 intussusception cases observed during 1956-1985. The underlying pathologic processes were identified in 23 patients (92%). Etiologically, adult intussusception could be categorized into four groups: (1) tumor-related (13 cases, 52%); (2) postoperative (nine cases, 36%); (3) miscellaneous--Meckel diverticulum (one case, 4%); and (4) idiopathic (two cases, 8%). Twenty pediatric patients presenting primarily with unexplained gastrointestinal bleeding were evaluated with sodium pertechnetate Tc 99m imaging. Three patients had normal barium enemas and scans consistent with Meckel's diverticulum. These three patients and three additional patients with normal scans underwent surgical exploration. PURPOSE: To analyze the clinical characteristics and identify independent predictors of intussusception secondary to pathological lead points (PLPs).
METHODS: We conducted a retrospective study of children surgically treated for intussusception between 2010 and 2025. Patients were categorized into PLPs and non-PLPs groups. Demographic, clinical, laboratory, imaging, surgical, and pathological data were compared between the groups.

Here we report a case of a 60 years old woman who came to the Emergency Department of San Martino Hospital suffering from abdominal pain for about a week with high fever in the last 24 hours. The final histological examination led to the diagnosis of ileal diverticulosis associated with perforation and peritonitis with a fibrotic reaction involving the last ileal loop, the caecum and the appendix.
