Data from a 'limited prospective' study on life events and breast cancer were tested whether they were biased by knowledge of the prospective diagnosis or by related mood states. Data were gathered by semi-structured and tape-recorded interviews. Event classifications were made according to Brown and Harris' Life Events and Difficulties Scale, an interviewer-based rating method. We have found self-determination of blood pressure to be a valuable technique in the evaluation and management of our patients. A metabolic bone disease characterized by a mineralization defect, low plasma 1,25(OH)2D, and hypercalciuria has been described in patients receiving prolonged total parenteral nutrition (TPN). Twenty infants aged 1-2 years who had previously had one attack of febrile convulsions were randomly given a single dose of diazepam rectally, either as a solution (0.7 mg/kg) or by suppository (5 mg). Plasma-diazepam levels were determined repeatedly during the first hour using gas chromatography. Rectal administration of diazepam in solution resulted in anticonvulsant plasma values within 4 +/- 1 min.
