PURPOSE: To describe the presentation, treatment, and outcomes of a series of patients with unilateral traumatic cataracts.
METHODS: Retrospective, noncomparative review of 25 consecutive children with unilateral traumatic cataracts managed at a single institution during a 5-year period with regard to demographic data, mode of injury, clinical course, and outcome.

PURPOSE: To determine the effectiveness and steroid-sparing capabilities of methotrexate in the treatment of chronic, noninfectious, nonnecrotizing scleritis.
DESIGN: Retrospective chart review.
METHODS: We conducted a retrospective chart review of all patients treated for scleritis between January 1, 2000 and July 31, 2005 at the Institute of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at New Jersey Medical School of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. INTRODUCTION: Descemet's membrane detachment is a rare but serious complication following cataract surgery. Extensive detachments that affect the visual axis may result in poor vision and require penetrating corneal grafts. Some alternatives have been used to reattach Descemet's membrane: air bubble, transcorneal sutures and intracameral viscoelastic gel plus SF6 or C3F8 gas.

PURPOSE: We report the postoperative results of the Artisan Hyperopia phakic intraocular lens (IOL; model 203W; Ophtec, Groningen, The Netherlands).
DESIGN: Prospective, nonrandomized trial.
PARTICIPANTS: Twenty-six eyes of 13 self-selected patients with refractive error ranging from +3.00 to +11.00 diopters (D).
