Synthetic mesh erosion is a recognised complication for pelvic floor repair surgery which occurs in 1-10% of patients. Our study aimed to evaluate the different risk factors involved in synthetic mesh erosion complicating vaginal reconstructive surgery at a general district hospital. A retrospective audit of 133 vaginal mesh reconstructive operations at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Cambridgeshire, UK, was carried out. Patellofemoral dislocations are common. In cases with recurrence or residual instability, surgical intervention is usually considered. Numerous treatment protocols have been used in the past to treat patellofemoral instability secondary to patella dislocation. Reconstruction of the medial patellofemoral ligament is one of the possible options, since it was acknowledged to have a major medial stabilising role on the patella. We present a technique for reconstruction of the medial patellofemoral ligament using an autologous gracilis tendon graft.

We report on the case of a patient undergoing resection of a large axillary and chest wall tumor, resulting in exposure of the brachial plexus and axillary vessels. Our experience of the use of the pectoralis minor pedicled flap for the reconstruction of such a defect is described, providing for excellent postoperative mobility of the axilla and minimal donor-site morbidity.

We analysed surgical outcomes in 41 boys aged 2.5 months to 17 years with congenital hydrohephrosis who were treated with external drainage (nephrostoma, intubation drainage, Gibbon's drainage) and by means of stenting. We discovered that stent drainage produces urethral traumas, orchitis, orchoepididymitis. Our study made us to recommend external drainage methods for boys with congenital hydronephrosis undergoing reconstructive plastic surgery to prevent injuries and inflammation in the urogenital system.
