Risk factor analysis and predictive model for the alleviation of postpartum stress urinary incontinence: a retrospective cohort study.

BACKGROUND: Postpartum stress urinary incontinence (SUI) can substantially affect women's daily functioning, psychosocial well-being, and rehabilitation needs. Predictive models for persistent postpartum SUI after basic pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) remain limited. This study aimed to identify factors associated with persistent SUI and to develop a predictive nomogram for early risk stratification. METHODS: This retrospective cohort study included 1,538 women diagnosed with SUI at one month postpartum who underwent basic PFMT and completed six-month follow-up at Wuhan Central Hospital b

Mental Health and Mental Illness in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery: A Systematic Review.

UNLABELLED: Mental health disorders are known to correlate with poorer outcomes in orthopaedic surgery, yet research focusing on pediatric orthopaedic patients remains sparse. This study aims to evaluate publication trends on mental health within pediatric orthopaedic surgery over the past two decades. A systematic review was conducted following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Searches in PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science identified articles published between January 1, 2003 and July 17, 2023, focusing on mental health in pediatric ortho

Psychosocial factors associated with the trajectories of interparental conflict for Australian fathers of autistic children: A longitudinal study across 10 years of child development.

Limited research exists on fathers' experiences of interparental conflict (IPC) in families with autistic children. We aimed to identify: (1) the extent to which these fathers report IPC across 10 years of child development (4-14 years) and how this compares to fathers of non-autistic children; (2) distinct trajectories of IPC for fathers of autistic children and (3) factors associated with trajectories of IPC among fathers of autistic children. This is a retrospective study using a national dataset. Participants were 281 fathers of autistic children and 7046 fathers of non-autistic children.

Implementation and Impact of Home-Based Cardiac Rehabilitation in a Veterans Affair Medical Center.

INTRODUCTION: In patients with prior myocardial infarction (MI), cardiac rehabilitation (CR) has been shown to reduce all-cause mortality, cardiac mortality, and risk of recurrent MI. Medically supervised cardiac rehab has challenges such as increased patient and center cost, patient transportation issues, patient time commitment, and increased need for resources. Home-based cardiac rehabilitation (HBCR) is an innovative alternative to medically supervised CR which can help to address some of the aforementioned issues. HBCR has been shown to have similar patient outcomes when compared to medic

The longitudinal relation between patterns of goal management and psychological health in people with arthritis: The need for adaptive flexibility.

OBJECTIVES: Due to their disease, patients with polyarthritis face the task of reconciling their threatened personal goals with their capabilities. Previous cross-sectional research on patients with chronic disease related higher levels of goal management strategies to lower levels of distress and higher levels of well-being. This study was the first to focus longitudinally on goal management patterns that combined strategies originating from different goal management theories. Our first study objective was to identify patterns that consisted of various strategies of goal management among pati

A multifactorial interdisciplinary intervention to prevent functional and mobility decline for more participation in (pre-)frail community-dwelling older adults (PromeTheus): study protocol for a multicenter randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Age-related decline in physical capacity can lead to frailty, associated with an increased vulnerability to adverse health outcomes and greater healthcare utilization. In an aging population, effective strategies to prevent physical decline and frailty, and preserve independence are needed. Prevention programs for vulnerable community-dwelling older adults are, however, often not yet established and implemented in routine practice. Research on the feasibility, implementation, and (cost-)effectiveness of multifactorial, interdisciplinary intervention programs that take advantage of

Prognostic factors of whiplash-associated disorders: a systematic review of prospective cohort studies.

We present a systematic review of prospective cohort studies. Our aim was to assess prognostic factors associated with functional recovery of patients with whiplash injuries. The failure of some patients to recover following whiplash injury has been linked to a number of prognostic factors. However, there is some inconsistency in the literature and there have been no systematic attempts to analyze the level of evidence for prognostic factors in whiplash recovery. Studies were selected for inclusion following a comprehensive search of MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, the database of the Dutch Institute

Health-related quality of life in children with chronic kidney disease: clinical predictors and ROC-derived thresholds for impaired HRQoL.

BACKGROUND: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) in childhood is associated with multidimensional disease burden extending beyond physiological impairment. While reduced health-related quality of life (HRQoL) has been consistently reported, the clinical interpretability and stratification value of HRQoL measures in pediatric CKD remain insufficiently characterized. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, HRQoL was assessed using the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) in 47 children with CKD and 46 healthy controls. Group differences were analyzed across domains and total scores. Receiver op

Long-Term Outcomes of Exercise-Based Rehabilitation and Immunometabolic Parameters in Adult Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Recipients: An Updated Systematic Review of Randomised Controlled Trials.

BACKGROUND: Adult haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) survivors have deficits in physical function, fatigue and quality of life that differ between autologous and allogeneic recipients. Few randomised controlled trials (RCTs) have evaluated exercise at 3 months or more, and immune reconstitution is rarely assessed. We synthesised RCT evidence on longer-term exercise effects across physical, psychosocial and immunometabolic outcomes by transplant type. METHODS: Following PRISMA 2020, six databases were searched (2019-2026) for RCTs comparing structured exercise with usual care or c

I am in the passenger seat of my own body: a qualitative interview study of the relationship between binge eating and concurrent problematic alcohol use.

BACKGROUND: The association between binge eating and alcohol use disorders (AUDs) has been demonstrated in genetic, population-based, and clinical studies. Individuals with binge eating report more binge drinking and heavier alcohol consumption than those with eating disorders (EDs) without binge eating. Co-occurring EDs and AUDs are linked to higher levels of ED symptoms, depression, anxiety, and more severe psychosocial impairment compared with EDs alone. The aim of this qualitative study was to explore how adults with concurrent binge eating and perceived alcohol problems experience these t
