INTRODUCTION: Subchorionic hematoma (SCH) is a rare type of intrauterine hematoma, usually with limited impact on fetuses and pregnant women. But massive hematoma causes significant space occupying effect, affects blood supply of the fetus and finally may lead to fetus demise.

We report a case of acute biliary obstruction diagnosed by ultrasonography at term gestation. Intraoperative findings included a massively dilated biliary collecting system and an impacted stone at the ampulla of Vater. The use of ultrasonography in this patient supports the expanding role of this diagnostic tool for nonobstetric complications of pregnancy.
