Zinc-65 was injected directly into various sites throughout the small intestine of Holstein calves fed a low zinc diet. Zinc absorption was determined by comparing zinc-65 content of blood, liver, kidney, lung, heart, pancreas, rib, muscle, and other tissues. The primary purpose of this study was to determine the relative contribution of the nasal and the conjunctival mucosae to the systemic absorption of topically applied timolol in the pigmented rabbit. A new interpretation of contrary trends of water absorption rate and cement mix consumption in rock grouting is presented. The classical interpretation is either a higher consumption due to fracturing or a higher absorption due to thin fractures that cannot be grouted.
