OBJECTIVE: To describe the clinical evolution of patients with total knee replacement surgery due to grade IV gonarthrosis secondary to varus angular deformity.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: A descriptive trial where we included patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty due to gonarthrosis secondary to varus angular deformity. We used the following variables, sex, age, affected side, type of approach, type of prosthesis, type of gait post-surgically, infection, vascular status, post-surgical pain, rejection of prosthetic material, varusflection angular deformity pre and post-surgically.

A 63-year-old man contracted hepatitis C virus (HCV) and human T cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1) from a blood transfusion at age of 18. METHODS: Arthrodesis was performed with two compression screws and an anterior plate in 29 patients and with two compression screws only in 16 patients. We describe a modified technique for the salvage of a total knee arthroplasty after disruption of the extensor mechanism. 59 patients with 60 surgically treated acetabular fractures were followed up to 25 years. Coxarthrosis developed within 3 years in 23 fractured hips. There was a high correlation between nonanatomic reduction and posttraumatic arthrosis. The long-term results after an acetabular fracture can be predicted within 2-3 years of surgery.
