PURPOSE: To describe peritoneal manifestations of fascioliasis on CT.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: We reviewed CT images in 31 patients with fascioliasis confirmed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) (n = 24) or surgery (n = 7). Image analyses were performed to identify hepatic, biliary, and peritoneal abnormalities.

This paper reviews the Italian literature and illustrates the results of a survey on Histoplasma capsulatum var. capsulatum infection carried out in the Bergamo area of Italy over the last 10 y. BACKGROUND: Astyanax mexicanus is a single species of fish that consists of river-dwelling (surface) and cave-dwelling morphotypes. Little is known about how sexual determination, differentiation or reproduction have evolved in the surface morphs or cavefish, though divergence in reproductive strategy is expected as the latter have adapted to the novel cave environment. Evolution of the gonad transcriptome may underlie the differences in gamete morphology, fertility, and fecundity previously reported between morphotypes.

OBJECTIVE: The meningeal structure of the cavernous sinus (lateral sellar compartment) was anatomically and histologically studied. We discuss the clinical and surgical significance and present clinical examples of cranial base tumors.
METHODS: Ten adult cadaveric heads were used for microsurgical dissection or histological studies. Specimens of the cavernous sinus were continuously sectioned in three dimensions and stained by Masson's trichrome method. The presence of deciduous premolars and erupting C1, P2, P4, I1, I2, I3, P2, and P4 in Nesophontidae is established for the first time on the fossil remains of Nesophontes major Arredondo, 1970, and N. micrus Allen, 1917 from El Abrón Cave (Republic of Cuba, Pinar del Río Province, Late Pleistocene). During ontogenesis, the replacement of teeth (except P1 and P1) occurred after the molar eruption, but before the animal reached adult size. By the dental replacement pattern nesophontids differ from most members of Lipotyphla and are close to Solenodontidae.

ABSTRACT: Shoulder girdle injuries after high energy traumatic impacts to the shoulder have been well documented. Based on the series of 1603 injuries of the shoulder girdle reported by Cave and colleagues, 85% of the dislocations were glenohumeral, 12% acromioclavicular and 3% sternoclavicular (1). Less frequently described are injuries involving both the sternoclavicular and acromioclavicular joints simultaneously in one extremity. The present report discusses a case of traumatic floating clavicle associated with ipsilateral forearm and wrist injury which was treated surgically.
