The leucocyte migration inhibition (LMI) test was used as an indicator of cell mediated immunity to gluten fraction III in 30 healthy controls and 58 patients with adult coeliac disease and the results related to HLA status and duration of treatment with a gluten-free diet. HLA-B8 controls showed significantly lower leucocyte migration indices, indicating greater immune response, than non-HLA B8 controls. Untreated coeliacs showed no difference from HLA-B8 controls. Immunological study was carried out in 10 cases of Klinefelter Syndrome against sperm antigen. Sperm antibody in serum was present in one of ten cases but cell mediated immunity on the basis of leukocyte migration inhibition test was positive in all the ten cases showing a strong link between chromosomal disorders and immunological tolerance.

Groups of young adult and senescent guinea pigs were fed normal and vitamin C deficient diets for 4 weeks and tested for their peritoneal macrophage functions. Serum levels of vitamin C in deficient animals indicated a progressive state of ascorbic acid deficiency and correlated well with the clinical signs and symptoms of scurvy. Tinea imbricata is a chronic dermatophyte infection caused by Trichophyton concentricum affecting large areas of the skin surface. Cell-mediated immune response (CMIR) and humoral antibody response was studied in fifteen patients with amoebic liver abscess, five patients with amoebic colitis and fifteen patients with non-amoebic diseases which served as unexposed controls. CMIR as judged by macrophage migration inhibition factor (MIF) test was altered in amoebic patients and more so in amoebic liver abscess patients; it was normal in unexposed controls.
