The germination index (GI) is the best index for evaluating compost phytotoxicity and maturity. In order to improve GI and reduce phytotoxicity of chicken manure compost, superphosphate, biochar, and a microbial inoculum were added in this study. 99MTc-pertechnetate distribution studies were performed in rabbits and mice following pretreatment between 5--336 hours with various routinely used stannous complexes (HSA, MAA, GHT, DTPA, PYPs) containing different amounts of Sn++ (0.17--15.0 mu mg/kg). A new technique of technetium labeling using stannous pyrophosphate instead of stannous chloride as reducing agent for pertechnetate has been applied to red blood cells and bleomycin. Results are so encouraging that this technique could be extended to other compounds capable of forming stable complexes with reduced technetium. No saline washes of red cells are necessary before or after the addition of pertechnetate. No purification step is performed after labeling of bleomycin.

IMPORTANCE: Several randomized clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in preventing human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) acquisition. Little is known about adherence to the regimen, sexual practices, and overall effectiveness when PrEP is implemented in clinics that treat sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and community-based clinics serving men who have sex with men (MSM).

The inhibitory effects of taegeuk ginseng extract (TGE) on platelet aggregation and thrombus formation were investigated. The TGE significantly inhibited collagen- and adenosine 5'-diphosphate (ADP)-induced platelet aggregation in vitro in a dose-dependent manner. Also oral administration of TGE to rats significantly prevented ADP- and collagen-induced platelet aggregation ex vivo, but it did not affect the plasma coagulation system.
