Many changes occurred in hormonal contraceptives in the past few years to improve benefice/risks balance and get a better tolerance and observance. These changes concerned the decrease of steroids doses, changes in estroprogestogen sequence, use of less androgenic progestogen and more recently the use of new ways of administration with transdermal system, vaginal ring or subdermal contraceptive implant to avoid daily use. This article makes a review of hormonal contraceptives available in France and benefits of recent innovations.

Sultamicillin (SBTPC) is a semi-synthesized beta-lactam antibiotic consisted of ampicillin (ABPC) and a beta-lactamase inhibitor, sulbactam (SBT), linked with an ester linkage. Pharmacokinetic and clinical studies using SBTPC 10% fine granules were performed in pediatric patients with a variety of infections. 1. In a first stage the effect of a single dose of 3 g of salsalate on serum salicylate level was compared with a single intake of 3 g of soluble or enteric-coated acetylsalicylates in 12 healthy subjects. BACKGROUND: The hormone deficiencies in Addison's disease (primary adrenal insufficiency) are conventionally treated with oral glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid replacement but the available therapies do not restore the physiological hormone levels and biorhythm. Despite such treatment these patients self-report impaired health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and recent research has indicated increased mortality.

PURPOSE: To determine if rectal sedation with thiopental sodium produced for intravenous administration provides safe and effective sedation for children undergoing diagnostic imaging.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Five hundred twenty-five consecutive children (mean age, 2.7 years +/- 2.2 [SD]) underwent magnetic resonance imaging (n = 425), computed tomography (n = 89), and nuclear medicine (n = 11) examinations after rectal administration of thiopental sodium injection solution. The solution was prepared from thiopental sodium powder mixed with sterile water to create a concentration of 100 mg/mL.

Clinical efficacy was studied with cefadroxil powder for syrup in 35 pediatric patients including 20 acute tonsillitis and pharyngitis, 6 scarlet fever, 2 cervical lymphadenitis and 7 urinary tract infections.
