Digital proficiency and educational needs of Portuguese radiation therapists.

INTRODUCTION: As radiotherapy (RT) becomes increasingly digitised, the digital skills (DS) proficiency of Therapeutic Radiographers/Radiation Therapists (RTTs) is essential for ensuring patient safety and quality care. This study is part of larger sequential multi-phase mixed-methods research; previous research by the same research team has shown that DS proficiency varies among European RTTs. The current study aimed to assess stakeholders' perceptions of proficiency, influencing factors, challenges, and strategies to bridge the digital gap in Portugal. METHODS: A qualitative, hybrid (inducti

Digital interventions for genomics and genetics education, empowerment, and service engagement: A systematic review.

BACKGROUND: Patient-facing digital technologies may reduce barriers to and alleviate the burden on genetics services. However, no work has synthesised the evidence for patient-facing digital interventions for genomics/genetics education and empowerment, or to facilitate service engagement more broadly. It is also unclear which groups have been engaged by digital interventions. AIM: This systematic review explores which existing patient-facing digital technologies have been used for genomics/genetics education and empowerment, or to facilitate service engagement, and for whom and for which pur

Medical humanities in a rapidly changing world. Is there any worth in it?

This article was migrated. The article was marked as recommended. Humanism has shaped mankind during the last centuries, but technology and recent social changes have shifted the paradigm towards a data driven society where humans are no longer at the center of the world. Medicine is not alien to this new situation; clinical practice is rapidly changing, and medical curricula must adapt to it. Is there any place for humanities in medical training? In this paper we analyze the present situation of humanism in a technology flooded health environment, the roll of humanities in contemporary medica

How did the transition toward virtual education change lecturers' appraisal forms?

This study explores the change in expectations for institutional lecturers during the transition to virtual education before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our goal is to examine how the criteria used to evaluate lecturers' performance, as operationalized in student evaluations of teaching (SET), both reflect and shape lecturer roles during the shift to virtual education. The research relies on analysis of feedback forms, including an examination of teaching committee protocols, interviews with academic managers holding positions in teaching centers, and program and department heads. The fi
