A case of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) with epithelial membrane antigen (EMA)-positive cells is described. The tumor was excised from the left groin of a 28-year-old woman. It showed characteristic histologic features of DFSP with typical diffuse immunohistochemical positivity for CD34. The Gram-positive bacterium Streptococcus pneumoniae is a major cause of pneumonia, sepsis and meningitis. Although the invasive disease is severe, some 40% of individuals harbour the pneumococcus in the nasopharynx asymptomatically. Here we investigate the molecular elements of the encounter between host and pathogen that distinguish these different outcomes. PURPOSE: This study aims to describe the structural changes and surgical outcomes of full-thickness macular holes (FTMHs) induced by vitreomacular traction with broad vitreomacular attachment (VMA).
METHODS: A retrospective analysis of idiopathic FTMHs from October 2010 to May 2022 was conducted. Patients with FTMHs and no retinal detachment (RD) induced by broad VMA (the study group) were compared with a control group consisting of typical FTMHs with focal VMA.

We describe a case of malignant pleural mesothelioma appearing as a solitary pleural tumor in a 56-year-old Japanese man with no history of exposure to asbestos.
