BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Several cases of spinal cord ischemia (SCI) on venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA ECMO) support have been reported recently. We perform a review of the literature regarding this devastating complication with the goal of better understanding the relative distribution of these potential mechanisms and prognosis.

A procoagulant snake venom serine protease was isolated from the venom of the nose-horned viper (Vipera ammodytes ammodytes). This 34 kDa glycoprotein, termed VaaSP-VX, possesses five kDa N-linked carbohydrates. Amino acid sequencing showed VaaSP-VX to be a chymotrypsin-like serine protease. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate vitrectomy with membrane peeling across the spectrum of myopic traction maculopathy (MTM) and identify prognostic factors for anatomical and functional success.
METHODS: Patients with MTM who underwent vitrectomy and membrane peeling between 2018 and 2023 were included. Percentage reduction in mean foveal thickness (MFT) was used as a marker of anatomical outcome, and visual acuity was the primary outcome.
