An epizootic of beak abnormalities (avian keratin disorder) was recently detected among wild birds in Alaska. Here we describe the gross, histologic, and ultrastructural features of the disease in 30 affected adult black-capped chickadees (Poecile atricapillus). Grossly, there was elongation of the rhamphotheca, with varying degrees of lateral deviation, crossing, and gapping between the upper and lower beak. The present report describes a case of acanthocephaliasis associated with necrotic enteritis in quetzals (Pharomachrus mocinno). Three juvenile quetzals exhibited depression, anorexia, ruffled feathers, and sudden death. They were submitted to the laboratory for examination. An investigation which lasted for a period of one calendar year was mounted to determine common ectoparasitic fauna of poultry in Nsukka, Nigeria. This survey covered twenty commercial poultry farms located in different areas of Nsukka. BACKGROUND: Many lesions in the anterior skull base may compress the optic nerve (ON), leading to vision loss, and even irreversible blindness. Although decompression of the optic nerve has traditionally been achieved transcranially, the endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA) is gaining traction as a minimally invasive approach recently.

The growing competition between humans and livestock for corn-soybean based feed calls for sustainable alternatives like rice bran. This study assessed substituting feed with rice bran (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%) in diets for slow-growing Wenchang chickens, a prized Chinese yellow-feathered breed.
