Gastrointestinal foreign bodies present a common clinical challenge. We present an unusual case of a 58-year-old construction worker who ingested liquid concrete that risked solidifying in his stomach. Gastroscopy revealed only partial solidification and pyloric obstruction, which were successfully resolved through endoscopic fragmentation and mechanical removal. Air embolism is a rare cause of stroke, usually associated with medical procedures, with gastrointestinal endoscopy rarely implicated. Here, we present a case of a patient who experienced cerebral air embolism post-gastroscopy, presenting with aphasia and right hemiparesis due to left M2 occlusion with spontaneous and complete recovery. An 80-year-old man presented to our hospital with general fatigue on exertion that had gradually worsened over 6 months. His blood test revealed severe anemia, and gastroscopy revealed findings consistent with gastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE) and autoimmune gastritis. We diagnosed the patient with severe anemia caused by GAVE and autoimmune gastritis. The present case suggested that GAVE is triggered by autoimmune gastritis, and the mechanism is likely related to hypergastrinemia. The reporting of this rare case may help elucidate the cause of GAVE, which is currently unknown.

We report a case of a 74-year-old man with a Clark's level II, 2.5 mm melanoma on his back that was excised. A post-operative PET scan found no lesions. One and a half years later, the patient developed anaemia with blood in his stool. A gastroscopy and colonoscopy found no lesions. Video capsule endoscopy, however, detected a tumour in the small intestine. At laparotomy, the tumour was removed. Histological diagnosis showed metastatic malignant melanoma. We believe that video capsule endoscopy may increase the rate of diagnosis of small-bowel melanoma metastases.

Patients with pernicious anemia are at risk of developing carcinoid tumours of the stomach. Heterotopic pancreas (HP) in the stomach is a relatively well-known entity, but there are not many symptomatic cases reported in children. We report on a 9-year-old boy presenting with nausea and vomiting. The first gastroscopic examination showed a crater-like lesion in the antrum, but at follow-up gastroscopy a few weeks later the lesion was polypoid, obstructing the pylorus. Lower gastrointestinal bleeding after aspirin intake was reported in a 64-year-old woman. Gastroscopy, colonoscopy and selective mesenteric angiography failed to reveal the source of hemorrhage; only a midgut malrotation was suggested by angiography. Small bowel enema finally demonstrated a blind sac on the antimesenteric border of the ileum, corresponding to a Meckel's diverticulum.
