Diplomatic response to global health challenges in recognizing patient needs: A qualitative interview study.

BACKGROUND: Global health diplomacy is the applied practice of foreign affairs to further national goals that focus on health issues requiring international cooperation and collective action. We aimed to determine how international diplomats and health policy-related professionals in the EU understand the concept of health diplomacy, which impacts both diplomatic relations as well as patients' rights. METHODS: In a qualitative interview study, we used a heterogeneous stratified purposeful sampling to reach participants from different countries and different practitioners from the Pyramid of H…

Multi-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine for global health: From problem to platform to production.

Childhood bacterial meningitis and pneumonia represent leading causes of mortality, with the latter persisting as one of the top causes of mortality for children under 5 y of age. The prohibitive costs of developing and producing broader spectrum conjugate vaccines impact availability and affordability, resulting in a barrier to health equity and access to disease preventing vaccines, which restrict global health disease prevention efforts. Inventprise was founded in response to the need for innovation that can help reduce disease burden with improved coverage and more affordable vaccines. Inv…

School-based peer education interventions to improve health: a global systematic review of effectiveness.

INTRODUCTION: Peer education, whereby peers ('peer educators') teach their other peers ('peer learners') about aspects of health is an approach growing in popularity across school contexts, possibly due to adolescents preferring to seek help for health-related concerns from their peers rather than adults or professionals. Peer education interventions cover a wide range of health areas but their overall effectiveness remains unclear. This review aims to summarise the effectiveness of existing peer-led health interventions implemented in schools worldwide. METHODS: Five electronic databases wer

Integrated Theory-Based Health and Development Interventions for Young People: A Global Scoping Review.

BACKGROUND: Most health and developmental issues affecting young people are interrelated. However, few interventions address multiple behavioral domains simultaneously or are based on theories that encompass a holistic perspective of youth development. AIM: The purpose of this scoping review was to identify and describe the range of theory-based, multibehavioral health interventions aimed at improving two or more of the following behavioral youth outcomes: (1) sexual and reproductive health; (2) education and employment; (3) violence; and (4) substance use. METHODS: Interventions conducted w

Mitigating Global Oral Health Inequalities: Research Training Programs in Low- and Middle-Income Countries.

Although oral diseases are largely preventable, they are among the most non-communicable diseases globally, and they disproportionately burden disadvantaged communities, specially within low- and middle-income nations. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the social, economic, and health inequalities in our society, including the existing global oral health inequalities. There is a shortage of dentist-scientist all around the world, especially in developing countries, such as Thailand. Role of female intimate hygiene in vulvovaginal health: Global hygiene practices and product usage.

Women use various feminine hygiene products, often as part of their daily cleansing routine; however, there is a paucity of published medical literature related to the external vulva and how personal hygiene practices can affect it. This review article provides background information on the physiological changes that occur during women's lives and reviews the relevance of transient and resident microbiota as they relate to common vaginal and vulvar disorders. It also discusses the need for female intimate hygiene, common practices of feminine hygiene from a global perspective, and the potentia

WHO global survey on maternal and perinatal health in Latin America: classifying caesarean sections.

BACKGROUND: Caesarean section rates continue to increase worldwide with uncertain medical consequences. Auditing and analysing caesarean section rates and other perinatal outcomes in a reliable and continuous manner is critical for understanding reasons caesarean section changes over time. METHODS: We analyzed data on 97,095 women delivering in 120 facilities in 8 countries, collected as part of the 2004-2005 Global Survey on Maternal and Perinatal Health in Latin America. The objective of this analysis was to test if the "10-group" or "Robson" classification could help identify which groups

Global burden of thyroid cancer attributed to high body mass index and predictive trends: estimated results from the global health data study, 1990-2021.

BACKGROUND: Thyroid cancer is the most common endocrine tumor, impacting patients' quality of life and contributing to a significant societal burden. This study aims to estimate the global burden of thyroid cancer attributable to High Body Mass Index(HBMI) over the past 30 years. METHODS: The mortality rates, disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), and age-standardized rates (ASRs) attributable to HBMI for thyroid cancer were extracted. A generalized linear model with a Gaussian distribution was used to calculate the estimated annual percentage changes (EAPCs) in ASRs, quantifying the tempora

From principles to binding rules: A one health governance readiness analysis of Saudi Arabia's AI health policy against global regulatory benchmarks.

BACKGROUND: AI is entering clinical care, disease surveillance, and health-data systems faster than governance frameworks can accommodate. Stakes for public health systems include algorithmic safety in diagnosis and triage, data interoperability, and workforce capacity to supervise AI tools safely. Saudi Arabia has built substantial AI health governance infrastructure through its Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority and Food and Drug Authority, but no binding, AI-specific health law had been enacted as of mid-2026. METHODS: A ten-dimension governance scoring framework anchored in WHO an
