A Qualitative Exploration of Policy, Institutional, and Social Misconceptions Faced by Individuals with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity.

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) is characterized by recurring symptoms in response to low-level chemical exposures that are typically well-tolerated by the general population. Despite the debilitating health impact of MCS, public indifference and prevailing skepticism often result in stigma, misinformation, and systemic barriers that obstruct individuals' access to essential environments. This qualitative study examined the lived experiences of individuals with MCS, focusing on how their condition is misunderstood and the factors that contribute to misconceptions about MCS. Seven focus gro

Rhesus D Prophylaxis: When and Why We Give Rhesus D Immunoglobulin.

IMPORTANCE: Hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN) is caused by maternal alloantibodies to fetal red blood cells and is associated with significant fetal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. Rhesus D antigen (RhD)-mediated HDFN is the only preventable cause of alloimmunization in pregnancy. Widespread utilization of RhD prophylaxis reduces the risk of RhD-mediated alloimmunization from 17% to <1% in at-risk pregnancies, although RhD-mediated HDFN still occurs. OBJECTIVE: To emphasize significance of RhD prophylaxis, outline current guideline-directed indications for administration

"Ich-Mupong", a swollen stomach: an ethnographic study of the daily lived experiences of schoolchildren in schistosomiasis high transmission areas along Lake Albert, Hoima District.

BACKGROUND: Our primary focus was Schistosoma mansoni infection and schoolchildren. Within communities the social environment may promote individual risk of infection for the school-aged children. There will also be demographic groups who are not targeted or reached by preventive chemotherapy campaigns. The behaviours of these other groups will interact with those of school-aged children, resulting in further infection risk through exposure-related behaviours. Furthermore, perception of the disease may significantly influence the schoolchildren's lived experience of the infection and associate

The Association Between Fatalism and Mammography Use in Korean American Immigrant Women.

Fatalism is reported as a salient cultural belief that influences cancer screening disparities in racial and ethnic minority groups. Previous studies provide a range of measures and descriptions of cancer fatalism, but no studies to our knowledge have analyzed how fatalistic views cluster together within subgroups to form distinct profiles, and how these profiles can be predicted. This study identified subgroups of Korean American immigrants with similar fatalistic beliefs toward cancer and examined the influence of fatalism, health belief variables, and health literacy on mammography use.
