Venous thromboembolic events (deep vein thrombosis [DVT] and pulmonary embolism) are serious preventable complications associated with gynecologic surgery. Preoperative risk assessment of the individual patient will provide insight into the level of risk and the potential benefits of prophylaxis. Changes of blood supply to the uterus in two patients who experienced pregnancy and delivery were studied by using 3-D CT scanning. INTERVENTION(S): Laparoendoscopic single-site surgery and broad-spectrum antibiotics.
MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S): Complete resolution of the ectopic pregnancy and pelvic inflammatory disease.

Vulvar lymphangioma circumscriptum is a defect of lymphatics in the reticular dermis. It can occur as either acquired-induced by radical hysterectomy and pelvic radiation for cervical cancer-or congenital. Lymphangiomas of the vulva are rare. OBJECTIVE: The objective of the study was to describe the development of and experience with a technique for en bloc resection of left upper quadrant intraperitoneal metastatic ovarian cancer.
STUDY DESIGN: From May 7, 2002-August 14, 2004, 6 women underwent en bloc resection of extensive tumor contiguously involving the omentum, colon, gastrocolic ligament and spleen. Abdominopelvic operation is the most frequent cause of iatrogenic femoral nerve injury, particularly when self-retaining retractors are used. Transverse abdominal incisions and thin body habitus are significant risk factors. Patients typically have mild sensory and/or motor disturbances with diminished knee jerk reflexes. Most cases are self-limited, and symptoms resolve within several weeks. Most femoral nerve injuries that are associated with pelvic surgery can be prevented with a thorough understanding of the pelvic anatomy and proper placement of self-retaining retractors.

The probable etiology of axonal damage to the left musculocutaneous nerve (motor branch) of the left biceps branchii during a laparoscopic procedure was the position in which the patient was maintained.
