HPV infections are common, with millions of Americans infected. Common gynecologic manifestations of HPV infection include genital warts and cervical neoplasia. The CDC recently issued guidelines for the treatment of genital warts. Gynecologists should be familiar with these therapies and their potential short-comings. A recently reported clinical trial has raised hopes that HPV and its sequelae may be prevented by vaccination.

Pararectal and obturator hernias are relatively rare and typically affect elderly emaciated women. They are difficult to diagnose preoperatively. A gynecologist may come across such hernias as a secondary finding during laparoscopy. Such findings are expected to increase with the aging population. We present two cases and the technique to treat them.

Every 3 years, the International Congress on Congenital Toxoplasmosis meeting gathers experts with different backgrounds who are involved in congenital toxoplasmosis: gynecologists, pediatricians, ophthalmologists, microbiologists, epidemiologists and research scientists. Most attendees come from the Americas and Europe, where substantial work has been performed to better understand this disease. Two presentations that stressed major current issues in the field of toxoplasmosis are summarized here.

Patients with urogenital complaints are frequently encountered by family practitioners, gynecologists, and dermatologists. This review article provides practical information regarding normal anatomy and embryology of the vulva, followed by a summary of procedural techniques. The new classifications of vulvar inflammatory and intraepithelial neoplasm proposed by the ISSVD are used as guidelines to review the wide spectrum of diseases involving this organ.

Female circumcision is a problem unfamiliar to most Western obstetrician-gynecologists. We present a case illustrative of the unique management problems posed by these patients during labor. A method of releasing the anterior vulvar scar tissue to allow vaginal delivery is described. Sensitivity and a nonjudgmental approach as to what is culturally appropriate care for these women are of paramount importance.

METHODS: A prospective multinational survey was conducted between September 1, 2015, and May 21, 2016.
