Epidemiology of oral HPV in the oral mucosa in women without signs of oral disease from Yucatan, Mexico.

High-risk human papillomaviruses (HR-HPV) are considered necessary for the development of cervical cancer. Furthermore, there is no doubt that some types of oral squamous cell carcinoma are associated with HR-HPV. The epidemiology of oral HPV infections in healthy subjects remains unclear due to a lack of knowledge. The objective of this study was to investigate the epidemiology of human papillomavirus infections of the oral mucosa without pathology. A cross-sectional study was performed; samples from 390 women seeking prenatal care, Pap smears, family planning or gynecological diseases were s

Early dyspareunia experience in young women: confusion, consequences, and help-seeking barriers.

INTRODUCTION: Recurrent painful intercourse or dyspareunia is a highly prevalent health problem associated with impairments in sexual function and psychosocial well-being. Despite its particularly high prevalence in young women, little is known about how young women experience the onset of dyspareunia and how they attempt to manage or address the problem. AIMS: To explore the subjective experience of early dyspareunia symptoms in young women so as to model its cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and help-seeking trajectory. METHODS: Using a qualitative methodology broadly based on grounded the

Awareness and knowledge of human papilloma virus in UK women aged 25 years and over: Results from a cross-sectional internet-based survey.

OBJECTIVE: The expanding use of human papilloma virus (HPV) testing within cervical screening requires an evaluation of public understanding of HPV. This study aimed to explore HPV awareness and knowledge using a previously psychometrically validated measure in a sample of UK women aged 25 years and over. METHODS: An anonymous web-based cross-sectional survey design was used, and responses were recorded for 246 women (mean age = 37.59, SD = 9.20). RESULTS: Findings indicated limits to women's understanding of HPV, its transmission, treatment and link with cancer. The mean HPV knowledge score

Personality Traits and Attitudes Toward Traffic Safety Predict Risky Behavior Across Young, Adult, and Older Drivers.

In the last few decades, several studies have investigated the role of personality traits and attitudes toward traffic safety in predicting driving behaviors in diverse types of drivers across several countries. However, to the best of our knowledge, no studies so far have investigated the possible moderating role played by age in relation to predictors of accident risk. Answering this open question would provide information about the generalizability of the model across different subpopulations and would make possible the tailoring of the interventions to specific target groups. The study inv

Highly informed, yet undersupported: dietary supplement use, information sources, and perceived risks among pregnant vegans in German-speaking regions-findings from the VedieS study.

BACKGROUND: Vegan diets during pregnancy are commonly discussed regarding nutritional risks, often without differentiating between heterogeneous vegan populations. Empirical evidence on clearly defined subgroups who maintain a vegan diet throughout pregnancy remains scarce. OBJECTIVES: This study characterized a highly selected subgroup of pregnant women adhering to a vegan diet, focusing on supplement use, information sources, counseling experiences, and perceived risks of micronutrient deficiency and overdosing. METHODS: An explorative, cross-sectional online survey was conducted as part o

Modeling behavioral intention of using health-related WeChat official accounts through ELM and SCT factors using the PLS-SEM approach.

Health-related WeChat Official Accounts are widely used in China. However, limited research has explored how cognitive processing and psychological beliefs influence user behavior on these platforms. Previous studies have rarely examined the cognitive and psychological mechanisms that underlie users' behavioral intention in this context. To address this gap, this study proposes a psychologically grounded dual-pathway model that integrates the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) and Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) to explain how individual information processing and self-efficacy jointly shape use

The impact of receiving polygenic risk scores for alcohol use disorder on psychological distress, risk perception, and intentions to reduce drinking.

For the return of polygenic risk scores to become an acceptable clinical practice in psychiatry, receipt of polygenic risk scores must be associated with minimal harm and changes in behavior that decrease one's risk for developing a psychiatric outcome. Data from a randomized controlled trial was used to assess the impact of different levels of hypothetical polygenic risk scores for alcohol use disorder on psychological distress, risk perception, and intentions to change drinking behaviors. The analytic sample consisted of 325 participants recruited from an urban, public university. Results de

Gender Differences in Treatment-Seeking Behavior and Outcomes in Generalized Anxiety Disorder: A Retrospective Study.

Background and objective The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) defines generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) as an anxiety disorder characterized by excessive anxiety and worry occurring more days than not for at least six months, about several events or activities. Despite substantial knowledge about its treatment, limited evidence exists on gender-related differences in treatment-seeking behavior and outcomes. Understanding these differences is particularly crucial in Saudi Arabia, where the mental health system is undergoing transformation under Visio

Mental health help-seeking among individuals with breast cancer: A qualitative exploration of women's and healthcare practitioners' perspectives.

Individuals with breast cancer (BC) experience significant psychological distress, yet their utilization of mental health services remains low. This study identified key factors influencing help-seeking behavior through integrated Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and Health Belief Model (HBM) frameworks. We conducted in-depth interviews (IDIs) with eight BC patients and nominal group technique (NGT) with six health professionals, followed by Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) to assess expert consensus. The IDIs revealed that the individuals with BC recognized the value of professional psychological su

Psychosocial impact and stigma on men who have sex with men due to monkeypox.

BACKGROUND: The recent Monkeypox (Mpox) outbreak has disproportionately affected men who have sex with men (MSM), amplifying stigma and discrimination. While prior research examined media portrayals and public perceptions, little is known about MSM's direct experiences. To address this gap, we assess discrimination, stigma, and psychosocial impact across social and healthcare settings. METHODS: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted using a structured, pilot-tested survey to assess discrimination against MSM in media, family, socio-occupational, and healthcare environments. Understanding Prevention and Management of Coronary Heart Disease Among Chinese Immigrants and Their Family Carers: A Socioecological Approach.

Introduction: Health disparities among immigrants exist across socioecological domains. While Chinese immigrants face increased risk for coronary heart disease (CHD) after migration, the reasons are not well understood. Method: This descriptive qualitative study collected 18 semistructured interviews with Chinese immigrants with CHD and family carers from two Australian hospitals. Analysis was guided by the social-ecological model. Results: Poor knowledge and limited English proficiency increased CHD risk and difficulty navigating health care systems/resources. Interpersonal and family factors

Impact of COVID-19 on Dutch General Practitioner Prenatal Primary Care: Retrospective, Observational Cohort Study Using an Interrupted Time-Series Approach.

BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted primary health care-seeking behavior of the general population. The extent to which health care-seeking behavior of pregnant women in general practitioner (GP) care was affected remains largely unknown. The unique health care needs of pregnant women necessitate regular monitoring and care to ensure the well-being of expectant mothers, fetuses, and neonates, as timely interventions and screenings can profoundly influence the long-term health outcomes. Understanding how pandemic-related changes have influenced pregnant women's primary heal
