PURPOSE: To evaluate the efficacy of keratectomy in treating irregular astigmatism caused by peripheral hypertrophic subepithelial corneal degeneration (PHSD) and to study the possible underlying immunological risk factors.

A 62-year-old white Caucasian male was referred with Keratoconus and posterior subcapsular cataract (PSC) and a history of 12 previous procedures including implantable contact lens surgery (ICL), Intacs corneal implant, Cross Linking, Phototherapeutic Keratectomy (PTK) and Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK). All the procedures were surgically well done by his surgeon but resulted in 20/200 vision and an irregular, scarred cornea. After undergoing Laser Corneoplastique and a staged Cataract surgery, he was brought to unaided 20/20 vision in this eye.

Three cases of histologically proven limbal xanthogranuloma are presented. All three cases presented with a yellow raised swelling at the limbus and no other ocular or systemic abnormality. A simple excision of the lesion was carried out in all cases and histological examination revealed features typical of xanthogranuloma. Two patients had a recurrence at the original site, necessitating keratectomy, with insertion of a lamellar graft. PURPOSE: To analyze the outcomes of a new technique (corneal remodeling) to treat corneal ectasia.
METHODS: Sixty-nine cases that underwent corneal remodeling were analyzed. Anesthetic drops were instilled and a femtosecond laser platform was used to perform an 8-mm diameter keratectomy (180°, 270°, or 360°).
