A fly larva was recovered from a boil-like lesion on the left leg of a 33-year-old male on 21 November 2016. He has worked in an endemic area of myiasis, Uganda, for 8 months and returned to Korea on 11 November 2016. The larva was identified as Cordylobia anthropophaga by morphological features, including the body shape, size, anterior end, posterior spiracles, and pattern of spines on the body. The hairless metacarpal foot pads of six hookworm-free puppies were exposed to infective larvae of Ancylostoma braziliense. Serial sections of the biopts stained with Harris' haematoxylin and eosin showed that the infective larvae are able to penetrate the toughest region of canine skin. An 8-year-old boy from Xuan-Han County, Sichuan Province, China presented with 6 months headache, nausea and vomiting. A computed tomography scan revealed multiple cerebral hemorrhages. Etiology of the cerebral hemorrhages was investigated by digital subtraction angiography, and cerebral aneurysm was entertained. Twenty-six days after his admission to the hospital, a flatworm emerged from the right eye of the patient. The worm was identified as Fasciola hepatica, based on the morphological characteristics of the worm.

Gnathostomiasis has rarely been described outside endemic countries. We report on a series of 5 patients (4 females, 1 male, mean age 42.2 y … migratory swellings or creeping eruption that does not respond to the usual treatment for cutaneous larva migrans. Serological tests may be negative initially and thus need to be repeated to check for seroconversion. Treatment may require multiple courses of albendazole and a prolonged period of follow-up is necessary before cure can be confirmed.
