We describe the case of a 46-year-old man who presented with a four-month history of a reddish, otherwise asymptomatic, nodular lesion that involved the mucosal side of the upper lip. The lesion consisted of myoid glomus-like cells arranged around branching and thin-walled haemangiopericytoma-like vascular structures, and was classified as glomangiopericytoma. No recurrences occurred during an eight-month follow-up. To the best of our knowledge, this tumour has never previously been described in the mucosa of the lip.

The transverse twist flap technique is used for secondary reconstruction of asymmetric volume-deficits of the cleft lip. We present a patient with lentigo maligna of the labial mucosa who underwent reconstruction using this technique. The result was excellent and there was no postoperative complications. The transverse twist flap is a useful and effective option for the reconstruction of lip defects after excision of lentigo maligna.

INTRODUCTION: We present an epidemiological description of cancer of the lip, oral cavity, and oropharynx focused on South and South-East Asia by cancer site, sex, and population.
METHODS: The number of new cases and deaths from lip, oral cavity, and oropharynx cancers was extracted from GLOBOCAN 2022 and Cancer Incidence in Five Continents. We present age-standardized incidence and mortality rates (ASR) per 100,000 and temporal trends between 1992 and 2017 for four populations in the Region.

We present a series of 23 cases of a distinctive, hitherto poorly recognized low-grade adenocarcinoma, with several histologic features reminiscent of papillary carcinoma of the thyroid, and which mostly but not exclusively occurs in the tongue. Lip cancer should be diagnosed and treated at an early stage. It most often presents on the lower lip of middle-aged to elderly males. The aetiology is similar to non-melanoma skin cancer, that is, chronic sun exposure. Despite treatment, a proportion of patients will experience delayed relapse and one in 10 will die from lip cancer. Clinicians need to be aware of the natural history of this disease. Two cases of squamous cell carcinoma of the lip treated by radiotherapy are presented and discussed to highlight important aspects in the management of lip cancer.
