OBJECTIVE: The current study presents one of the underprivileged populations of the national epidemiological scientific literature by the eating disorders. THE PURPOSE OF STUDY: Based on a review of selected publications over the past 10 years, the author summarizes definitions of the anorexia athletica and the female athlete triad.
METHODS: Analysis of the international epidemiological data.

Recently, the term of "possible" polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) has been used for defining cases in which biochemical evaluations are incomplete but clinical phenotypes are suggestive of PCOS. The purposes of this study are to describe the frequency and distress of symptoms associated with perimenopause, to examine the changes in the quality of life (QOL) related to perimenopause, and to examine the relationships between symptoms associated with perimenopause and the QOL. This article reviews the skeletal effects and clinical implications of menstrual disturbances in active women. At the lumbar spine, menstrual disturbances are associated with premature bone loss or failure to reach peak bone mass, while appendicular sites are less affected. 35 women with diffuse fibrous-cystic mastopathy were treated with gestagen slow-releasing drug "Depo-Provera". Use of the drug made part of the patients feel better and promoted regression of objective signs of the disease. Conclusion was made that administration of the drug in mastopathy caused by hormonal disorders is pathogenetically substantiated method of treatment.

Forty-six patients with premenopausal or postmenopausal bleeding anomalies were given gestagen therapy for endometrial hyperplasia. The Biograviplan (IUD) is a therapeutic system which, from a reservoir of 52 mg progesterone, permits the programmed release of the hormone within the uterus.
