The mutagenic effects of microwave and chromium trioxide (CrO(3)) on Vicia faba root tip were studied. Micronucleus assay and chromosomal aberration assay were used to determine the mitotic index, the micronucleus frequency and chromosomal aberration frequency of Vicia faba root tip cells induced by microwave and CrO(3). An Aden-Ch apparatus programming complex made in our country was used for transrectal microwave hyperthermia in 75 patients with chronic prostatitis. In addition to its good clinical results achieved in most patients, the complex restored hemodynamics and stabilized the status of prostatic cell membranes. The complex described in the paper may be recommended for the treatment of chronic prostatitis.

The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility of using a microwave oven to produce denatured muscle grafts for the repair of 1 cm deficits in the rabbit peroneal nerve. Recovery of function was assessed after 6 months by electrophysiological and histological examination of the peroneal nerve and target muscles. The results were compared to normal rabbits and to a group whose nerves were repaired with freeze-thawed muscle grafts (FTMG). Transrectal microwave hyperthermia was applied to 46 stages D1 and D2 prostate cancer patients to treat urinary symptoms and local pain unrelieved by total androgen ablation therapy. Transurethral microwave hyperthermia is a new conservative treatment modality for benign prostatic hyperplasia. We treated 15 patients with 915 MHz. microwaves delivered transurethrally by a helical applicator.
