Bow-Hunter syndrome (BHS) includes a form of stroke caused by dynamic factors affecting the extracranial vertebral artery (VA), such as rotation-induced flow disturbance at the atlantoaxial level. We present a case of superior dislocation of the patella trapped by interlocked osteophytes. Unlike previous reports, in which the mechanism resulted from a blow to the inferior pole, it is postulated that increased load on the extensor mechanism, combined with patella alta and patellofemoral osteophytes, caused locking of the knee in extension.

This is the anatomico-radiological study of a 47-year-old ununited intracapsular fracture of the hip. The femoral head was osteoporotic but its center contained a zone of osteomedullary necrosis in the form of a bone infarct. Pincer nail deformity is the extreme, transverse, proximal-to-distal overcurvature of the finger, caused by osteophyte of the distal phalanx, and causing clamp effect on soft tissues and nail ingrowth. We report a new technique consisting of removal of the osteophyte causing clamp effect. Depressed areas of both side of the nail bed (lateral nail fold) were corrected with dermal flaps prepared from the side. Depressed areas were filled by these flaps, creating a smooth surface for the nail bed, and adequate correction was obtained.
