Factors Influencing the Clinical Adoption of Quantitative Gait Analysis Technologies for Adult Patient Populations With a Focus on Clinical Efficacy and Clinician Perspectives: Protocol for a Scoping Review.

BACKGROUND: Quantitative gait analysis can support clinical decision-making. These analyses can be performed using wearable sensors, nonwearable sensors, or a combination of both. However, to date, they have not been widely adopted in clinical practice. Technology adoption literature has highlighted the clinical efficacy of technology and the users' perspective on the technology (eg, ease of use and usefulness) as some factors that influence their widespread adoption. OBJECTIVE: To assist with the clinical adoption of quantitative gait technologies, this scoping review will synthesize the lit

Community-based approaches for prevention of mother to child transmission in resource-poor settings: a social ecological review.

INTRODUCTION: Numerous barriers to optimal uptake of prevention of mother to child transmission (PMTCT) services occur at community level (i.e., outside the healthcare setting). To achieve elimination of paediatric HIV, therefore, interventions must also work within communities to address these barriers and increase service use and need to be informed by evidence. This paper reviews community-based approaches that have been used in resource-limited settings to increase rates of PMTCT enrolment, retention in care and successful treatment outcomes. It aims to identify which interventions work, w

Guided tissue regeneration: a decision-making model.

BACKGROUND: Guided tissue regeneration (GTR) has the potential to promote periodontal regeneration, which is one of the goals of periodontal surgery. While many successful reports of periodontal regeneration using barrier membranes exist in the literature, considerable heterogeneity of GTR outcomes is more typical of current reports. The reasons for this variability are numerous, but could be attributed to differences in surgical skills and case selection. There is a need for a current analysis of the factors affecting success and the formation of evidence-based treatment guidelines for GTR.

Preexposure Prophylaxis Uptake Among Female Sex Workers in Northern Nigeria: A Qualitative Study of Barriers and Facilitators.

BACKGROUND: Female sex workers (FSWs) in sub-Saharan Africa, including Nigeria, face disproportionately high risks of HIV acquisition. Although oral preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is highly effective, its uptake among FSWs remains low, especially in conservative, high-stigma settings like northern Nigeria. This study explored the multilevel barriers and enablers influencing PrEP uptake among this key population. METHODS: We conducted 13 semistructured interviews, including 10 in-depth interviews with brothel-based and non-brothel-based FSWs and 3 key informant interviews with PrEP program imp

Barriers to sexual and reproductive health information among young Black women in the USA: caregiver and structural influences.

Young Black women in the USA face systemic barriers to accessing accurate sexual and reproductive health (SRH) knowledge, relying on peers or the internet due to inadequate education and cultural biases. This reliance can lead to SRH misinformation. This study aimed to identify the barriers they encountered in obtaining SRH information. A qualitative approach was used to collect data from 37 young Black women aged 18-22, and 32 caregivers from Connecticut. Participants were divided into five focus groups and asked questions related to SRH education, accessibility, and needs. Data were analysed

Debate: Stigma implications for diagnosing personality disorders in adolescents.

Diagnosing personality disorders (PDs) in adolescence is a complex and often controversial decision. While early diagnosis provides a pathway to treatment, stigmatizing labels might unintentionally increase prejudice and discrimination for youth and their families, resulting in harm and treatment avoidance. In this paper, we outline stigma-related considerations for diagnosing PDs in adolescence, including types of stigma (public stigma, self-stigma, associative stigma) and moderators of stigma (continuum beliefs, biogenetic attributions, PD sub-diagnosis). Research indicates that PDs are amon
