In India, limited research exists on chemsex dynamics within MSM communities, particularly in stigmatized urban settings like New Delhi.
OBJECTIVE: This study explored socio-behavioural patterns, community dynamics, and health impacts associated with chemsex among MSM in New Delhi, investigating motivations, practices, risk behaviours, and support needs.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: An exploratory qualitative study was conducted from

BACKGROUND: Persons with disabilities (PWD) are as likely as their nondisabled peers to become pregnant, yet their experiences of pregnancy and early parenthood remain poorly understood. We aimed to explore the experiences of PWD during pregnancy and the postpartum period, with particular attention to managing their health and their children's health, and to parenting with a disability.
METHODS: This qualitative descriptive study was part of a mixed-methods study focused on psychosocial risks and maternal-infant outcomes among PWD. We completed semi-structured interviews with 45 PWD who were

Background: Delirium and depression are common and serious complications among intensive care unit (ICU) patients and are associated with adverse clinical outcomes, prolonged hospitalization, and increased mortality. Although the clinical management of these conditions has been widely studied, less is known about how nurses integrate physical and psychological care to support patients experiencing these complex challenges.Aim: This study explored intensive care nurses' experiences of providing holistic care for patients with delirium and depression through the lens of Neuman's Systems Model (N

Urban gardening, particularly through food-producing green spaces, is increasingly recognized as a key strategy for addressing the complex challenges of climate change, food insecurity, biodiversity loss, and social inequity in African cities. This systematic review synthesizes evidence from 47 peer-reviewed studies across sub-Saharan Africa between 2000-2025 to analyze how urban home gardens, rooftop farms, and agroforestry systems contribute to sustainable urban development. The protocol follows PRISMA guidelines and focuses on (i) plant species selection for ecological resilience, (ii) inte

INTRODUCTION: Earthquakes are natural disasters that can have significant psychological impacts on individuals, particularly children. While physical injuries are often the immediate focus following an earthquake, the psychological effects can be long-lasting and profound. Understanding the psychiatric effects of traumatic experiences in children following earthquakes is crucial for developing effective interventions and support systems.
METHOD: One hundred fifty three children and adolescents who experienced the earthquake were evaluated in the first year of the earthquake. Depression, anxie

ObjectiveInformal caregiving may likely increase as the number of cancer survivors grows. Caregiving responsibilities can impact caregivers' quality of life (QOL). Understanding the current state of the science regarding caregiving QOL could help inform future research and intervention development.MethodsA systematic literature review in PubMed/Medline examined research on QOL among informal cancer caregivers and related psychosocial health outcomes. Original research articles in English, published between 2007 and 2017 about caregivers (aged >18 years) of adult cancer patients in the United S

This review expands information concerning the bilateral below-knee (BK) amputee, describing the findings of a retrospective assessment of 80 such patients. Factors evaluated included etiology, associated conditions, time between amputations, late revisions, use of prostheses, and survival. In 63 patients both amputations were because of atherosclerosis. Of these patients, 86% were diabetic and 84% hypertensive. Peak incidence of the second amputation was during the 7th decade. Average time between amputations was 23 months. Forty-five (71%) of the atherosclerotic patients achieved some functi

Lupus nephritis (LN) is a complex disease. The pathophysiology involves the glomerulus and mesangium, and its manifestations are exhibited in extensive renal lesions. The World Health Organization (WHO) has developed a classification system to assist clinicians in understanding the severity of renal involvement. The diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and LN can be difficult because of their often vague symptoms and the long list of differential diagnoses. However, it is important to identify LN quickly to have an impact on a patient's prognosis. The 11 criteria established by the

INTRODUCTION: Acute type A aortic dissection is a life-threatening cardiovascular emergency characterized by sudden onset, severe pain, and high mortality, exerting profound physical and psychological burdens on affected individuals. While negative psychological sequelae predominate in most cases, a subset of patients demonstrates remarkable resilience, manifesting post-traumatic growth-a positive psychological transformation emerging in the aftermath of trauma. This qualitative study aimed to investigate the lived experiences of post-traumatic growth among Acute type A aortic dissection survi

BACKGROUND: Musculoskeletal (MSK) disorders cause major global disability and strain caregivers' mental health. In China, aging and limited rehabilitation amplify this burden. Empowering community volunteers through structured training may provide emotional and practical support to family caregivers, yet its effectiveness for MSK caregiving remains insufficiently studied.
METHODS: A randomized controlled trial was conducted in a coal-mining community. Eighty-eight family caregivers were randomly assigned to an intervention group, which received regular home visits from trained community volun

BACKGROUND: Caregivers of individuals with alcohol use disorder (AUD) face unique challenges, including stigma and social isolation, that affect their emotional, physical and psychological well-being. According to Szmukler et al. (1996) stress-coping model, the Experience of Caregiving (EoC) and social support (SS) are crucial resources that help caregivers manage stress. This study examines how caregiving appraisals (positive: ECIP; negative: ECIN) and SS influence the quality of life (QoL) of caregivers.
PURPOSE: To explore the relationships between QoL, ECIP, ECIN and SS among caregivers o

BACKGROUND: Childhood cancers remain a major cause of morbidity and mortality in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where nearly 90% of the world's children live. In 2018, the World Health Organization (WHO) and St Jude Children's Research Hospital launched the Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer (GICC) with the goal of increasing global survival to at least 60% by 2030. Achieving this requires a systematic approach to understanding country-level contexts to guide national planning.
METHODS: The Pediatric Oncology Facility Integrated Local Evaluation (PrOFILE) tool was implemented i

BACKGROUND: Cisgender women, particularly Black women in the Southeastern U.S., experience substantial HIV risk. While current prevention strategies emphasize individual-level risk indicators, understanding the relative contributions of structural determinants and psychosocial factors is essential. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of structural determinants, psychosocial factors, and individual indicators on HIV risk among women in a high-incidence U.S. region.
METHODS: Retrospective cohort of adults assigned female at birth, with ≥1 encounter at Grady Health, a safety-net system serv

BACKGROUND: We have limited information on families' experiences during transition and after discharge from the neonatal intensive care unit.
METHODS: Open-ended semi-structured interviews were conducted with English or Spanish- speaking families enrolled in Medicaid in an urban high-risk infant follow up clinic at a safety-net center, which serves preterm and high-risk term infants. We generated salient themes using inductive-deductive thematic analysis.
RESULTS: Twenty-one participants completed the study. The infant's median (IQR) birth weight was 1750 (1305, 2641) grams; 71% were Hispani
