Kinetics and distribution of K were studied in myocardiuum of chronic Mg-deficient rats. The experimental design was as follows. Rats were fed either Mg-deficient or control diet for 30 days. They were then injected with 0.2 mCi of K-43. One half hour after injection they were killed and a segment of myocardium was washed with nonradioactive Krebs solution in a special chamber. Degenerative lesions in the articular cartilage were present following transection of the anterior cruciate ligament in the rat. Experimentally induced yolk sac tumors in rats were investigated with special regard to morphological and histochemical characteristics. The greater the number of larvae, the lower the possibilities of superinfestation when rats are repeated exposed to contact with Strongyloides ratti larvae, once a week or every two days for periods of up to twenty-four days: super-infestations occurs only on the 2nd day (10,000 larvae), the 4th day (5,000 larvae) and the 9th day (1,000 larvae). However, superinfestation continues throughout the entire duration of the experiment (46 days) when contamination is very low (10 larvae). Although there is now superinfestations, each new contact with larvae produces a hypercorticosteronemia reaction.

OBJECTIVE: This study investigated the effect of age on tooth and periodontium morphology and on tooth eruption in the lower incisors of 28 female rats, initial age 10 weeks.
DESIGN: Morphometric data of the incisors in three young mature rats (weight 199+/-2.4 g) were compared to that of three 18-week-old (weight 260+/-5 g) animals. The rate of eruption was monitored during 12 months in 11 rats with all teeth in occlusion and in 11 rats with one lower incisor kept constantly out of occlusion.

The revascularization of free nerve grafts wrapped in omentum was assessed in an experimental model using rats. Revascularization of the grafts, using the original vessels, proceeded in the same way as reported in earlier studies, being in progress on the 4th day after the operation and essentially complete on the 8th day. The observations made in the experiment suggest that using omentum does not offer much of an advantage with nerve grafts transplanted to tissues with a good blood supply. Using omentum would seem indicated for grafts transplanted into cicatrized or irradiated tissues.
