An aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) is a benign tumor of the skeletal system, which most frequently occurs in long bones. An ABC arising from the rib is extremely rare and it is difficult to distinguish from other types of rib tumors. The present study describes an unusual case of a large ABC in the rib of a 17-year-old male. The entity is discussed with particular emphasis on the clinicopathological features, differential diagnosis and treatment. OBJECTIVE: To explore MSCT optimal examination time for patients with unconspicuous rib fracture.
METHODS: Sixty-three patients with thoracic trauma from January 2009 to June 2011 were collected. They were examined by MSCT in the first week after trauma and re-examined during eighth weeks after trauma. The number of rib which had been found fractured in the first examination was compared to that in re-examinations.

A patient underwent radiofrequency (RF) ablation of a pleural-based pulmonary metastasis from treated hepatocellular carcinoma. Ten months after the procedure, computed tomography and positron emission tomography findings raised the concern of tumor recurrence with invasion of the chest wall, for which the patient underwent thoracotomy with resection. Pathologic evaluation demonstrated osteonecrosis of the rib but no malignancy. This case illustrates that thermal osteonecrosis may occur after RF ablation of a pleural-based lesion.

This case report details the diagnosis and treatment of a previously unreported complication of a congenital chest wall anomaly. Our patient presented with a painful anterior sternoclavicular joint subluxation secondary to a bicipital rib. Thoracic magnetic resonance and computed tomographic imaging provided the diagnosis. Complete resolution of symptoms was achieved after resection of the bicipital rib.

Skeletal echinococcosis is a relatively rare entity and that of the rib is exceptional. Less than 50 cases of costal echinococcosis have been reported in the literature so far. We report a case of first rib hemangioma that caused thoracic outlet syndrome.
