This study was carried out on three long-legged buzzards to be brought for treatment to Veterinary Faculty, University of Kirikkale. Twenty lice were collected from the buzzards. The lice preserved in a tube containing of 70 % alcohol. They were mounted on slides separetely by using Faure Forte medium after cleared in lactophenol. Three species of lice: Laemobothrion (Laemobothrion) maximum, Craspedorrhynchus platystomus, Colpocephalum nanum were determined in microscopical examination. Colpocephalum nanum was reported for the first time from long-legged buzzards in Turkey.

In order to assess the effect of the neonatal tetanus elimination program in Turkey, tetanus antibody prevalence among women of childbearing age from three selected provinces was evaluated in relation to vaccination doses of the single-type tetanus vaccine. Malaria is still a major health problem in Turkey, where Plasmodium vivax malaria is endemic. Spontaneous rupture of the spleen is an important and life-threatening complication and occurs in up to an estimated 2 % of cases. The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence rate and risk factors relevant to neural tube defects (NTDs) in Turkey. All livebirths and stillbirths recorded at the university hospitals throughout Turkey between July 1993-June 1994 were evaluated with respect to congenital anomalies. For each birth, information was recorded about the child, the mother, the pregnancy and risk factors. A total of 66 cases with a NTD were recorded in 21,907 births. In 1994, a retrospective study of new cases of traumatic Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) was conducted in all the hospitals in Southeast Turkey: 75 new traumatic SCI were identified. The estimated annual incidence was 16.9 per million population. The male/female ratio was 5.8/1. This is a retrospective study conducted in all of the hospitals of Istanbul to survey new patients with a traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI) in 1992. In that year 152 new traumatic SCI were identified. The estimated annual incidence was 21 per million population. The male/female ratio was 3/1. This study was a cross-sectional epidemiological investigation of respiratory disease in farmers involved in the turkey growing industry. Pulmonary function tests and health history questionnaires were administered to a total of 95 turkey farmers throughout Minnesota. Respiratory symptoms were greatest during the winter months when exposure to environmental agents was highest.
