Mannosidosis is an extremely rare genetic disease occurring due to deficiency of the lysosomal enzyme, alpha-mannosidase. Patients with this disorder often suffer from musculoskeletal abnormalities and muscular weakness leading to joint destruction and severe morbidity along with other major systems involvement. We present here such a case of a 27-year-old male that highlights the challenges in management of hip joint destruction secondary to Mannosidosis.

A 2-year-old, female, neutered Newfoundland presented with pelvic limb lameness due to a distal tibial valgus deformity. A left distal fibula ostectomy and disto-medial tibial cuneiform ostectomy were performed with reduction and stabilisation using plate-rod internal fixation. Following surgical correction of the deformity the dog regained good functional mobility of the limb.

We retrospectively assessed the union and shoulder function following hook plate fixation in 18 patients with Neer type 2 fractures of the lateral end of the clavicle. The average age was 40 (range 22-62) years, and the mean follow-up was 25 (range 6-48) months. Fifteen patients had acute fractures and the rest were non-unions. Osseous overgrowth is an important problem after traumatic or surgical amputations in children. It is rather exceptional in congenital amputations. We report three cases of congenital amputation of the humerus with osseous overgrowth. They were treated with an autologous stump plasty according to Marquardt's technique.

A forearm plate retained for 50 years was removed because an acute inflammation mimicked chronic infection. The radiographs were very confusing. During the operation metallosis was obvious. Skeletal immature rabbits were used to study the pathogenesis of Osteochondritis Dissecans (OCD). Both histological studies and a radiographical examination were utilized after sagittal and coronal surgical chondral fractures were made in the femoral condyles cartilage. Trevor disease (dysplasia epiphysealis hemimelica) involving the foot and ankle is not uncommon, but its presentation as a progressive spastic flatfoot deformity is unusual. The medical records of 9 foals less than 4 months old, with fracture of the tibial diaphysis, were reviewed. Open reduction was accomplished by use of 3 approaches; however, a cranial approach was preferred and was used in 7 foals. As an operative procedure for the correction of funnel chest in adult and adolescents, a strut method using AO-plates was used.
