It is often suggested in the literature that thermography is able to diagnose a recurrence in the breast after breast-conserving therapy by a rise in breast temperature much earlier than other diagnostic tools, but no thermographic values are presented. Nucleolar organizer regions (NORs) have been identified by means of an argyrophilic technique (Ag-NOR) in routinely processed, formalin-fixed paraffin sections of breast lesions. The usefulness of serum measurements of mucin-like carcinoma associated antigen (MCA) in 100 women at presentation with breast cancer was evaluated. Peripheral venous blood was drawn and MCA values determined by radioimmunoassay. Twenty women presenting with benign breast disease and 20 normal women served as controls. Use of oral contraceptives has been shown to reduce the risk of gynecologic conditions that cause significant mortality, including ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer and ectopic pregnancy. Additionally, its use has been linked to quality-of-life issues, such as the prevention of pelvic inflammatory disease, benign breast disease and functional ovarian cysts, as well as to dysmenorrhea, premenstrual syndrome and iron deficiency anemia. Such information should be conveyed to women of reproductive age during their contraceptive counseling session.

The study was performed on 156 cases of breast carcinoma treated since 1968 with a follow up of 5 to 9 years. The global actuarial survival in 73,5%. The stages T1 T2 N0 treated by tumor excision gave a prominent result: 93% 5 years survival while preserving the breast. Among grave signs the importance of axillar involvement is outlined: the 5 years survival is 65,5% with N1 M0 while 73,5% with N0 - M0.
