The spleen was irradiated in 8 patients with chronic lymphatic leukaemia using RTG radiation in doses of 225 to 800 cGy for one treatment course. The follow-up after radiotherapy lasted 12.5 months on average. In 7 cases a considerable reduction was observed in the size of the spleen, and in 6 cases the absolute leucocyte and lymphocyte counts decreased by a mean of 46% and 50% respectively. A 51-year-old woman with dyspnea on exertion, fever, pleural effusion, and pericardial thickening underwent F-FDG PET/CT, which revealed focal hypermetabolic lesions in the right lung and left breast. The histopathology of the lesions was compatible with infiltration of inflammatory cells. Blood eosinophil counts were elevated, and enzyme-linked immunoassays were positive for antibodies to several parasites. After antiparasite medication, blood eosinophil counts were normalized, and PET/CT demonstrated complete disappearance of abnormal FDG accumulation in the lung and breast.

Thirty-six patients with pseudophakic bullous keratopathy had penetrating keratoplasties with one immediate graft failure and two subsequent rejections. Fifty-four percent of the patients saw 20/40 or better, and 79% saw 20/80 or better. These results are much better than reported for aphakic bullous keratopathy. Endothelial counts in the other eyes showed that 17% of these patients have unexpectedly very low cell counts, which were not appreciated on slitlamp examination and were probably a contributing factor to their corneal decompensation.
