Management of patients with end-stage heart failure is still challenging. We report a case of idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy who went through a challenging course. The case was presented as acute heart failure syndrome, which rapidly declined into cardiogenic shock and cardiac arrest that required an extracorporeal membrane oxygenator, then biventricular assist device implantation for circulatory support. PURPOSE: In order to solve the problem of accurate and effective segmentation of the patient's lung computed tomography (CT) images, so as to improve the efficiency of treating lung cancer.

The AFX stent graft (Endologix) has an active seal mechanism that can conform to an irregular vascular lumen. We modified the candy-plug technique using an AFX VERA suprarenal extension with restricted purse-string sutures to shape it into a candle-like contraption. We treated 2 patients with patent, dilated false lumens (FLs) after central aortic repair using this technique. This plug was deployed into the FL to block retrograde blood flow proximally. Partial or complete thrombosis of the FL was observed in both patients 6 months after surgery. This technique was feasible for FL occlusion.

INTRODUCTION: Patients with unexplained dilated common bile duct (CBD) and/or dilated main pancreatic duct (MPD) on noninvasive abdominal imaging tests are often referred for endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) in order to rule out biliopancreatic cancer. OBJECTIVE: Dilated common bile duct (CBD) (8-15 mm) with normal liver function tests is seen not infrequently, while management of such patients is ambiguous. We propose a treatment algorithm for this cohort of patients after observing them over a period of 8 years.

At present, heart failure (HF) treatment only targets the symptoms based on the left ventricle dysfunction severity; however, the lack of systemic 'omics' studies and available biological data to uncover the heterogeneous underlying mechanisms signifies the need to shift the analytical paradigm towards network-centric and data mining approaches. This study, for the first time, aimed to investigate how bulk and single cell RNA-sequencing as well as the proteomics analysis of the human heart tissue can be integrated to uncover HF-specific networks and potential therapeutic targets or biomarkers.

Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a rare but serious complication associated with COVID-19. It can lead to an inflammatory process in multiple body parts, including the heart, lungs, kidneys, and the brain. In this review, we describe the case of a 4-week-old infant with severe isolated systolic dysfunction who was found to be positive for COVID-19. He did not have the multi-system inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) commonly associated with COVID-19 infection.
