Research of influence of differentiated dietary therapy in a complex with antiulcer actions on dynamics of return development of clinical displays of disease at 117 patiens with gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, working on the chemical enterprise is studied. There are objective data testifying that at purpose of a diet with the increased quantity of fiber, results in essentially improve treatment of disease, especially in groups of the patients who treated during work and were exposed to combined action of connections of nitrogen and organic solvents.

We present a case of a neonate with VACTERL-like association, with the VACTERL association defined as the non-random association of vertebral, anal, cardiac, esophageal, renal/kidney, and limb defects, as manifested by a hemivertebra, imperforate anus, and digit anomalies, in rare association with duodenal atresia and right-sided diaphragmatic hernia. This constellation is previously undescribed and may offer insight into the pathogenesis of VACTERL and associated birth defects.

INTRODUCTION: Duodenal duplication cysts (DDC) are rare congenital anomalies that usually present in infancy and childhood. Acute presentation in adults is even rarer.
CASE HISTORY: We report a case of a 34-year-old man who presented with recurrent acute pancreatitis and was found to have a cystic lesion in the second part of his duodenum. Further investigations revealed communication between the cystic lesion and the distal common bile duct. We describe the details of the operative approach taken to resect the DDC.

A novel rare variant within the CD59 gene was linked with coeliac disease in a family with high incidence of disease. Functional analyses of this variant were performed using complementary DNA analysis and protein analysis in paraffin-embedded duodenal biopsies from affected individuals and controls. No effects on pre-mRNA or size of linear protein were observed, although these results do not exclude the possible effects of this variant on co-translational protein folding.

BACKGROUND: Giant duodenal ulcer (GDU) perforation remains an extremely uncommon but a rather challenging condition to manage wherein routine surgical procedures are fraught with an extremely high incidence of failure and mortality. It therefore follows that this condition must be identified and managed differently at laparotomy than are most duodenal perforations. BACKGROUND: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and functional dyspepsia (FD) are common functional disorders without defined pathology. Mast cells and eosinophils interact with T lymphocytes and may alter enteric nerve and smooth muscle function.
AIM: To examine mast cell, eosinophil and intraepithelial lymphocyte populations in duodenal biopsies of subjects with IBS and FD.
METHODS: A random sample of an adult Swedish population (n = 1001; mean age 54 years; 51% female) underwent upper endoscopy and biopsy; 51 cases with FD and 41 cases with IBS were compared with 48 randomly selected controls.

Duodenal varices are uncommon causes of gastrointestinal bleeding. In the literature, treatment of duodenal variceal bleeding is limited to case reports and case series. Treatment options are endoscopic, interventional radiologic and surgical modalities. In this article, we presented a case of a successful duodenal variceal bleeding treatment with transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt. The other treatment modalities are also reviewed.

OBJECTIVE: The mortality rate associated with bleeding duodenal ulcer disease is about 10%. Primary endoscopic hemostasis is successful in over 90% of patients, but in 15-25%, the bleeding cannot be controlled endoscopically or the patient rebleeding, requiring alternative treatment. Malignant lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) can arise in a variety of anatomical sites. The majority of these tumors arise in the stomach, with fewer than 30% arising in the small intestine. Primary duodenal MALT lymphoma is a very rare neoplasm. There are very few cases of duodenal MALT lymphoma reported in the literature. This is the third published case presenting clinically as a gastric outlet obstruction. The patient was successfully treated with a combination of chemotherapy and rituximab.
