We are reporting a case of a 43-year-old woman, who developed a soft tissue defect of the knee region following complex lower limb trauma. The defect was covered with a microvascular latissimus dorsi (LD) flap. The patient required a total knee replacement and developed a defect at the anterior aspect of the knee. This defect was covered by a second free LD flap from the ipsilateral side with anastomosis to the superficial femoral artery. We present a patient with massive posttraumatic ectopic calcification in the lower extremity. The patient complained of an increasing tender soft tissue mass with signs of acute inflammation and foot dorsiflexion weakness following a tibial fracture for 34 years. A large radiopaque mass was resected and reconstructed using a free functional gracilis muscle transfer, resulting in recovery of stable soft tissue and foot dorsiflexion. The resected material showed highly fibrosed soft tissue with extensive dystrophic calcifications. There were no sign of recurrence at 18-month follow-up.

Leg stiffness between high-arched (HA) and low-arched (LA) runners was compared. This prospective study aims to describe the results of fasciotomy in patients with exercise-induced pain in the lower leg with suspected (chronic) exertional compartment syndrome. We present a series of six patients in whom a traumatic below-knee amputation was associated with significant degloving, such that there was inadequate local skin to achieve primary stump closure. In each case, skin grafts were used to cover the stump muscle flaps. The patients ranged in age from 21 years to 73 years; the mean hospital stay was 72 days and the mean follow-up was 48 months. To determine the indications for fibular fixation in cases of combined fractures of the tibia and fibula and the effect of fibular fixation on tibial healing, a retrospective study of open fractures of the tibial shaft with concomitant fibula fractures was conducted at a level one trauma center. UNLABELLED: In order to solve the defect of blood vessel in tissue transplantation and complicated palmar amputation, bridge by "Y" type vein had been used from Jan. 1990 to Jul. 1996. Twenty-three cases were treated. In this series, there were 16 males and 7 females, with ages ranged from 10 to 42 years old. Six cases were the defect of lower legs anterior skin and tibia, 3 cases were the femur fracture with injury of femoral artery and tissue's defect, 2 cases were defect of five fingers, 12 cases were complicated palmar amputation.
RESULT: 15 cases with tissue transplantation and 12 cases

We report on a 72-year-old woman suffering from gas gangrene of the right leg, which developed 3 days after getting injured while gardening. Due to rapid microbiological diagnosis-direct microscopical examination of muscle biopsies revealed numerous grampositive rods-, immediately performed amputation of the leg and antibiotic treatment with penicillin and metronidazole the patient survived. From the muscle biopsies Clostridium septicum, which is found ubiquitously, was isolated in pure culture.
