Hepatic pulmonary fusion (HPF) is characterized by a fibrous connection between the liver and lung tissue. We present two cases of hepatic pulmonary fusion diagnosed with right diaphragmatic hernia and a third case with Pentalogy of Cantrell exhibiting complete agenesis of the diaphragm and finger-like projections of liver adhered to the right lung. This case report describes a patient with acute myeloid leukemia in urgent need of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), having symptomatic HEV infection. Clinical investigation disclosed severe intrahepatic cholestasis, nephrotic syndrome, erythrocytosis and hypoglycemia. Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole is a commonly used medication. Side effects are numerous and include drug hypersensitivity syndrome. Occlusion or obstruction of hepatic venous outflow results in the Budd-Chiari syndrome. The disorder should be suspected in any patient who suddenly develops massive ascites, and the diagnosis can be confirmed quickly and accurately by hepatic venography. In the absence of surgical intervention, survival is rare. Inferior venacavography and percutaneous liver biopsy can be performed safely in these patients, and both procedures provide useful information for the selection of appropriate surgical therapy. The branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs)--leucine, isoleucine, and valine--share unique biochemical properties that may make them useful in altered physiologic states. A group of 258 patients with various forms of alcoholic liver disease-steatosis, mild and severe hepatitis, and cirrhosis-has been studied. Severity of disease as judged histologically did not correlate very well with clinical presentation although signs of hepatocellular failure were certainly commoner in severe hepatitis and cirrhosis. Fever, pigmentation, and clubbing were also pointers to these two conditions.
