In an outbreak of gastroenteritis in elementary school students and their families in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, Campylobacter jejuni was isolated from the stools of 14 patients who developed diarrheal illness after a one-day bus trip. BACKGROUND: Right ventricular (RV) function using myocardial velocities before and after a coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) is not known.

We constructed a long-range restriction map of the tuberous sclerosis (TSC1) region of human chromosome 9q34, extending from ABL (T39-2-2) to D9S114. The physical map includes five genes and seven anonymous markers. The maximum distance between ABL and D9S114 is 5.4 Mb. The TSC1 critical region, between D9S149 and D9S114, has a maximum distance of 2.7 Mb. The ratio of genetic and physical distance in the region is 1 cM:600 kb. Alport syndrome (AS), an X-linked kidney disorder, has been shown to be caused by mutations in the gene for the alpha 5-chain of type IV collagen (COL4A5), which maps to Xq22. Between July 1987 and February 1988 selective internal iliac angiography was performed before and after intracavernous injection of papaverine plus phentolamine in 43 patients with erectile dysfunction.
