Human islet amyloid polypeptide (hIAPP) self-assembles into amyloid fibrils which deposit in pancreatic islets of type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients. Sirtuin 6 (Sirt6) is an NAD+-dependent deacetylase that regulates central metabolic functions such as glucose homeostasis, fat metabolism, and cell apoptosis.
