We report 3 cases of catamenial pneumothorax, with review of the literatures. Case 1: A 38-year-old female had recurrent right-sided pneumothorax in February 2001. Postoperative complications of endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy may be troublesome in some patients. Between January 1998 and September 2002, a total of 16 patients with recurrent palmar hyperhidrosis underwent video-assisted thoracoscopic T2 and T3 sympathetic block. We present a case of primary hyperparathyroidism in a 47 year old woman. The pre-operative 99mTc-sestaMIBI scan detected a single parathyroid adenoma located in the anterior or medium mediastinum. Surgery was carried out following 99mTc-sestaMIBI administration and using gamma probe radio-guided video-assisted thoracoscopy. The aim of this case report is to present this technique that allows adenoma resection with minimally invasive surgery. A reduction of surgical complications and an increase in the probability of surgical success could be obtained.

A 62-year-old man with dyspnea had an enlarged lymph node, 6.5 cm in size in the left hilum, but no primary carcinoma could be found. The patient underwent lymph node dissection under video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery, and the histological diagnosis was undifferentiated carcinoma. No primary lesion has been identified even in postoperative survey. The postoperative course was uneventful with no evidence of recurrence eight months after the operation.
