Mixture of Cluster-Guided Experts for Retrieval-Augmented Label Placement.

Text labels are widely used to convey auxiliary information in visualization and graphic design. The substantial variability in the categories and structures of labeled objects leads to diverse label layouts. Recent single-model learning-based solutions in label placement struggle to capture fine-grained differences between these layouts, which in turn limits their performance. In addition, although human designers often consult previous works to gain design insights, existing label layouts typically serve merely as training data, limiting the extent to which embedded design knowledge can be e

ClarityTrack for multi object tracking via hierarchical association and environment specific cost matching.

Existing Multi-Object Tracking methods have predominantly relied on strategies that combine motion and appearance costs at fixed ratios. Although the reliability of each cue varies significantly depending on scene conditions, this fixed-weight approach fails to fully reflect the diverse tracking situations within a frame, leading to association errors and trajectory fragmentation. To overcome these limitations, we propose ClarityTrack, an environment-aware rule-based system. ClarityTrack comprises three core modules. Balanced Cascade Association adopts a detection confidence-based two-stage hi

FMReward: Aligning and Evaluating Audio-Driven 3D Facial Animation with Human Preferences.

Audio-driven 3D facial animation is essential for advancing immersion and interactivity in virtual experiences. Although recent advances have shown promising capabilities, the training and evaluation of existing methods typically rely on ground-truth-based errors, which fall short of aligning with human preferences. To address this, we present a comprehensive framework that learns an automatic perceptual model from human preference data and leverages it to improve and evaluate the perceptual quality of audio-driven 3D facial animation. To begin with, we construct FMPair (Facial Motion Pairwise

PTFE-Based Triboelectric Nanogenerator with All-Symmetric Tribolayers Enabled by Self-Excited Charge Injection for Highly Corrosive Environments.

Conventional triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) generally rely on asymmetric contact pairs with pronounced triboelectric-polarity differences, such as polymer/metal combinations, which limits device stability and lifetime in corrosive environments. Herein, we propose an all-symmetric triboelectric nanogenerator (AS-TENG) based on identical polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) tribolayers. The AS-TENG consists of two identical Cu/PTFE electrode-dielectric units, so the exposed contact interface is PTFE/PTFE. To overcome the intrinsic output bottleneck caused by the nearly zero triboelectric-polarit

Multiselective Recognition of Metal Ion-Nucleic Acid Complexes by CRISPR/Cas12a and Quantum Dots Enables the Profiling of Circulating Tumor DNA in Breast Cancer.

The rapid, noninvasive detection of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) is vital for the diagnosis and staging of breast cancer (BC). In this study, we developed a homogeneous CRISPR/Cas12a fluorescent platform using a hierarchical grape-cluster rolling circle amplification (GCRCA) nanomaterial to detect the PIK3CA E542K mutation. A pivotal discovery of this study is that activated Cas12a efficiently cleaves metal ion-mediated cytosine-Ag+-cytosine base pairs, which enables direct coupling between enzymatic activity and signal transduction. GCRCA, assembled by precise hybridization of long-chain RCA

IHM-DDI: Integrating high-order interaction topology and Morgan fingerprint features for drug-drug interaction prediction.

Drug-drug Interaction (DDI) prediction is crucial in pharmacology and clinical applications. Conventional methods remain constrained by single-view paradigms, limiting multi-source data fusion and cross-view synergistic learning critical for comprehensive drug property profiling. We introduce IHM-DDI, an integrative deep-learning framework that integrates a high-order interaction topology and Morgan fingerprint-based features to enhance DDI prediction. Specifically, IHM-DDI employs an autoencoder to reduce the dimensionality of Morgan fingerprint similarity matrices, followed by KNN-based drug

An exploratory ImmunoScore based on early on-treatment changes in NLR and LDH in small-cell lung cancer receiving first-line chemoimmunotherapy.

BACKGROUND: Early monitoring biomarkers for first-line chemoimmunotherapy in extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) remain limited. Dynamic blood-based changes may better reflect treatment-related alterations than static baseline values. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective multicenter study comprising a 225-patient baseline cohort, a 148-patient dynamic development cohort of chemoimmunotherapy-treated patients with paired baseline/post-cycle 2 blood tests, and a 49-patient independent external validation cohort. Early relative changes in routine blood-based markers were analyzed for

Solvation Engineering via Metal-Phenanthroline Redox Mediators for Efficient Li-O2 Batteries.

Li-O2 batteries are a potential next-generation high-energy-density stationary energy storage system. The mechanisms of solution-based discharge processes remain unclear, including superoxide transformation, diffusion of Li+, O2/O2 -, and the redox mediation in saturated coordinated systems like iron and cobalt phenanthroline-based (≡ redox mediators, RMs) model systems. Here, in situ and ex situ spectroscopy combined with density functional calculations reveal that saturated coordinated redox mediation involves reversible bond-breaking and formation via structural coordination changes. In the

Unsuccessful Coupling of Weakly Coordinating Anion-Based Mg Salts and Alkoxyalkylamine Solvents for Rechargeable Mg Battery Application: Trace Water-Driven Interfacial Failure.

Rechargeable magnesium metal batteries (RMMBs) are promising candidates for large-scale energy storage owing to the advantageous properties of magnesium metal negative electrodes. Recent advances, particularly in electrolyte chemistry, have accelerated progress toward practical RMMBs. Here, we combined two emerging concepts-weakly coordinating anion (WCA)-based Mg salts and alkoxyalkylamine solvents-in electrolyte design. Unexpectedly, the combination of a representative WCA-based Mg salt, Mg[Al(Ohfip)4]2, and a conventional alkoxyalkylamine, 2-methoxyethylamine (MOEA), resulted in inferior el

Highly sensitive detection of species-specific malaria antigens using a cellulose nanobead-based lateral flow immunoassay.

Accurate and species-specific diagnosis of Plasmodium vivax malaria remains a significant challenge in malaria management due to the insufficient sensitivity and selectivity of existing rapid antigen tests. In this study, a highly sensitive and selective lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) platform was developed utilizing blue-colored cellulose nanobeads (CNBs) as high-contrast colorimetric reporters for the detection of P. vivax lactate dehydrogenase (PvLDH). Six novel monoclonal antibodies with sub-nanomolar dissociation constants and exceptional specificity toward PvLDH were generated and chara

Polymer-Based Thermal Protective Composites: The Role of Reinforcement and Matrix in Providing Strength and Fire Resistance.

This study addresses the need for thermomechanically robust materials for high-temperature environments by investigating fabric-reinforced composites produced through polymer infiltration and thermal pressing using phenol-formaldehyde (PF) and epoxy (ER) resins. Experimental validation was required due to the lack of comparative data across different textile reinforcements under identical conditions. Seven technical fabrics-carbon, aramid, basalt, silica, fiberglass, asbestos, and a carbon/aramid hybrid-were used as reinforcements. Mechanical testing revealed that carbon- and hybrid fiber comp

An electrochemiluminescence immunosensor for neuron-specific enolase detection based on resonance energy transfer between europium-based metal-organic frameworks and GO-Au composites.

A novel electrochemiluminescence (ECL) immunosensor based on the resonance energy transfer (RET) effect between europium-based metal-organic framework (Eu-MOF, ETM) and GO-PEI/Au was developed for detecting neuron-specific enolase (NSE). First, using 4’,5’-Bis(4-carboxyphenyl)-[1,1’:2’,1”-terphenyl]-4,4”-dicarboxylic acid (TCPB) as the ligand, we synthesized an efficient and stable ECL emitter (ETM) as the signaling substrate. Due to efficient spectral overlap between the ECL emission spectrum of ETM and the UV-vis absorption spectrum of GO-PEI/Au, the ECL emission signal of ETM can be expedit

Pro-cycling team cyclist assignment for an upcoming race.

Professional bicycle racing is a popular sport that has attracted significant attention in recent years. The evolution and ubiquitous use of sensors allow cyclists to measure many metrics including power, heart rate, speed, cadence, and more in training and racing. In this paper we explore for the first time assignment of a subset of a team's cyclists to an upcoming race. We introduce RaceFit, a model that recommends, based on recent workouts and past assignments, cyclists for participation in an upcoming race. RaceFit consists of binary classifiers that are trained on pairs of a cyclist and a

Evolution-based protein engineering: functional switching between transthyretins and 5-hydroxyisourate hydrolases.

Transthyretin (TTR) is a vertebrate-exclusive transport protein that plays a key role in binding and distributing thyroid hormones. However, its evolutionary origin lies in the duplication of the gene that encoding the enzyme 5-hydroxyisourate hydrolase (HIUase), which is involved in uric acid metabolism. Unlike TTR, HIUase is ubiquitous in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes, with the exception of hominids. Both HIUase and TTR subfamilies form homotetramers, possessing an internal charged cavity between the two dimer pairs. Based on their high degree of structural similarity, we hypothesized that
